40-50 point center. 2nd/3rd line tweener. $3.5m isn't bad.
I don't understand how these GM's haven't learned a single lesson year after year. How can you justify giving Clarkson a deal like that?
These are the same contracts that caused the most recent lockout. 7 years for Clarkson? God damn.
Understood, but that glass man isn't going to survive. I think his deal is bad and that makes Clarkson's look even worse.
He is a 40 point center who is 36. I wouldn't touch him with that contract.
This is why I will NEVER side with the owners. Its quite fkin simple, stop handing out stupid contracts.
anything on the rangers? rumors? even if its smaller players
Agreed. Although, by the time the 7 years is up, the number could drop from 10.8% of the Cap to 7.8%, which won't be so bad for him at that point, most likely.
No, blame the GMs. They're the ones doing the signing.
The Leafs have about $14-million in cap space now and Bernier, Kadri, Gunnarsson and Franson probably eat $11-million of that.

Isn't the deal 5.25M/year. If so, that's already under 9%, no?

Plus he's already 28. Even healthy, he'd be slightly overpaid with the type of point production he brings. And not only won't he be healthy, he'll be in his 30's for the bulk of the deal, so the production is going down. I'd be completely depressed if the Rangers made that deal.7 yrs for injury prone player
