I don't understand how these GM's haven't learned a single lesson year after year. How can you justify giving Clarkson a deal like that?

"Well we really needed toughness up front and the market has a big impact on the contracts being signed...."

Next time, they should lockout the GM's, not the players. these prices are just silly.
The GM's have so little time to produce now, they are going to take their best shot by cutting corners, i.e. giving ridiculous money to FA's. The owners need to have a heart to heart with their GM's not the players.

Where is Dagoon when you need him? Inside info on the Rangers would be great this day.

How anyone can ever take anything the owners say seriously, after seeing this, is beyond me. They piss and moan and shut the league down, and then have their GMs revert to the exact same behavior that got them to where they were.

7 yrs for injury prone player
Plus he's already 28. Even healthy, he'd be slightly overpaid with the type of point production he brings. And not only won't he be healthy, he'll be in his 30's for the bulk of the deal, so the production is going down. I'd be completely depressed if the Rangers made that deal.

I still want Jagr but that's most likely not happening. I don't mind Sather just keeping quiet cause a lot of these signings are just terrible.

Both contracts are horrendous, but I prefer Clarkson's over Clowe's since he is a better player.

I'm happy if we just re-sign our guys to reasonable contracts. Next summer Sather will make his next big splash...so we have time to worry about that.
