If Clowe had one concussion I could see giving him 5 years if you could justify the cap space over the term. To me not only the $ were too high but the term is too long. Short term it may be okay but long term this deal has more than real potential to hurt them big time. I don't see him being much 5 years from now just as I don't see Brad Richards being much either.

Anyway we save ourselves a 2nd rounder.

I think what's happening here is Edmonton is desperate to fix their roster deficiencies. Defensive forwards and defensive defensemen.

Wow, Clowe got 5 yrs? Lou's gone senile. I liked Clowe when he was here but he's damaged goods now. To play his style of game effectively he needs to be physical. Going to be hard to do that when he's so injury prone now.

I agree. There young players can't play any defense so they are trying to over compensate with whoever is available.
