In no world do we swap Zucc for Lucic retained - more likely we take Lucic and send Zucc or Spooner while getting back something that they really don't want to give up

Ek65 is the best defenseman in the league imho...even last year with his issues he still had a good year. Give him a supporting cast and watch out. The guys had a mediocre team around him for ages.

We do, but our list of RHD is pretty thin. Shatty-Pionk-ADA-Kampfer isn't good depth. Smith can play the right side, but who knows if he'll find his game again.

Even if the team goes forward 100% like it is now....I'm not totally convinced we are a bottom 5 team. Bottom 10 for sure...bottom 5? Eh.

If shatty is healthy and Ada plays the way I think he can...there's some talent in the blue line.
Frankly Marc staal is STILL my biggest concern on This team...amazingly.

after spending that much $$ for center depth, have to think the blues are in the market for a goalie. but when don't they need a goalie
I think several teams like Blues, Vegas, Toronto, Colorado are putting on the pressure and maybe other teams will soon cave in and overpay for Spooner, Hayes, Zucc, etc. And maybe several will pay us to take on their salary dumps.

Ottawa, Islanders, Montreal, Vancouver, and Buffalo (maybe)
We are not better than Detroit, Chicago, Edmonton, Arizona I think will put it together next year, Carolina, and Calgary are better than us.

There is nothing suggesting Yakupov is even on Ranger radar. What is the point of taking these hypotheticals down the avenue to fruition? If anything, Duclair is the likely incoming player. Debating a more likely hypothetical seems like better time spent.

So this summarizes why I think that going after EK65 is a good idea. If we don’t acquire elite talent I am not sure we can draft one conventionally (I say this in the sense that we won’t pick top3, top 10 possibly).
Otherwise, we have to hope one of the kids exceeds any reasonable expectation.
I am all for “rebuilding” but it has to have a purpose.
If all the kids pan out, I think EK65 can carry this team with that much quality depth and talent. Plus Lundy is the wildcard here. What if he has another 4 or even 5 great years left?

I think the ‘relies on his legs’ arguement for his decline coming sooner rather than later don’t hold up after what he did in the playoffs a year ago basically on one foot

U named 5 teams worse than us and a handful who are borderline and u don't see why I put em more in the 6 to 10 range instead of bottom 5?
i think the blue line and the impact of quinn's new system is a much bigger question than the forwards. but we also can't underestimate how bad we were when guys got hurt...kreider was out 12/27-2/23, we went 7-16-1 while he was out.
