Once again more moves are coming. Season doesn't start tomorrow. If we are judging on day 1, hand Ottawa the cup now

Realistically, who do you think they're in on?

There's Strome and scraps. Leafs can't even offer Strome more than $1M.

I think this is basically it.

Offseason so far:

Campbell/Mrazek > Murray/Samsonov (lateral move at best)
Mikheyev > NAK (downgrade)
Kase > no replacement
Lyubushkin > no replacement

On top of that, looks like Simmonds and Clifford will play NHL games because no other guys were signed.

Checks calendar. Yup, it's July 13th, the first game isn't until October, and the playoffs are what, nine months away.

Dont think anyone can say we got better this offseason. This team isn't on Tampa's level, neither on New York's, Edmonton, and Colorado.

You're right. Clearly what this team needs more of is Cody Ceci in a top 4 role.

Only then will we be on Edmonton's level.

You think Leafs are going in with Simmonds or Clifford on the 3rd line? No chance. Leafs have enough space to do things.
Leafs added Ritchie, Kase after day 1 yesterday when we were told they have no room. Kerfoot, Holl and Muzzin are trade chips.
Dubas pretty much said we aren't done

So is this team currently worse than this one below from opening night last year? (Hat tip to whomever took this screenshot)

We literally have 800k of space right now counting the QOs ( so no raises of sandin or engvall)

Trading those dudes opens up 10 mil but then we get to panic scramble to get a top 4 D top 6 Winger and a 6/7 D in

WINNERS

Toronto Maple Leafs

A day ago, when the Leafs chose to trade for Matt Murray rather than re-sign Jack Campbell, we might have had them in the losers column. But then the team signed Ilya Samsonov to a one-year contract, giving them a tandem that might actually be better than last year’s Campbell-Petr Mrazek tandem. The best part? Murray has two years left on his contract, while Samsonov is on a one-year deal. That means that both will be motivated. It also means that if things go sideways, the Leafs have the flexibility to change things up again. However, if that happens, it probably won’t be GM Kyle Dubas making the changes.

We'll probably add a couple nothing players, but I think we're pretty much done. Signing Denis Malgin and Adam Gaudette is busywork that could've been done whenever by some temp. Doing it on the busiest day of the year leads me to believe there aren't any irons in the fire. Likely going into the season with a worse roster on paper. On the plus side, Kerfoot and Holl weren't signed to extensions.

Most UFAs are signed.

Along with statements from media that they're not trading Muzzin or Kerfoot lead me to believe this is likely it.
No they aren't. Lots of UFA's are left and can be good fits for us. Dubas literally said they are not done and that Sandin tidbit confirms it. People need to stop making illogical statements and enjoy the sun. Judge in October when the full picture is clear.

Didn’t we “go in it’s a worse roster” last year?

Hard to argue they're not worse as of right now.

We'll see who they're gonna add in the next couple days.
The D is better, the G can't be worse than post New Years sub .900, and the forwards are only missing Mikheyev, who they missed for half a season anyway.

Hard to say they are worse.

Dubas said we aren't done, forwards and a depth d man. These comments will look silly in October

I dont see many Physical RD options available via trade or in Free agency.

Subban might be the only option

If anything Tampa is worse. They locked up their guys and didn't improve in day 1. Their off season is done today oh wait.
I realized most of the guys I replied to I had on ignore and showed up because of the servers. I wasted my time

Really interesting quotes from wood let.

Basically Murray decided he had to change his stance to improve lateral movement. He went to ottawa with the agreement to do so. Then they changed his coach and he got injured by their medical staff.

The upper body injury was caused by them. He kept sitting out because he had no trust in the medical staff.

Not saying who is right but it makes sense why there was an issue. It’s a tarasenko situation

Also makes sense why he didn’t want to go to buffalo.

Losing Mikheyev does suck, but this is the same media that has been slagging Mikheyev as a bad player when he was making like a mill and a half for 2 years.

Now they are whining about not paying him almost 5 mill?

NAK is exactly the kind of guy that they say the Leafs need more of (speedy, tenacious, hard-working forwards) and they are dismissing it.

TSN has consistently gone down hill, and ironically their "panels" keep getting larger. There are not enough media people who are knowledgeable enough to fill that many panels, and most of them are not at TSN or SN.
