Unfortunately this trade is going to be a really important for the Leafs next off season. They will have a big decision to make on Mathews and Nylander. I am hoping Calgary gets a lot in return for TChuk who as a player fits in somewhere between Nylander and Mathews abilities.
What an absolute duster Treliving is though. Clearly he had no plan for this off-season.
Depends on his contract. So would you do extended MacKinnon for Matthews?
No. Matthews is better and younger and likely to re-sign.So would you do extended MacKinnon for Matthews?
Gary Bettmans wet dreamStarting to sounds like players don’t want to play in Canada anymore

Sell the future a bit to actually go all in when we have Matthews. Still have Knies and Niemela for elc prospects
THIS^.The X factor here is how much these athletes value freedom of medicine. Like it or not these measures were not well received by everyone and those with the means to lives elsewhere will.
Matthews might leave, I’ve said it before, If he is a devout believer (which I suspect is true) he may not support the politics of this corporation and he has the unique skill set to choose where he goes.
NoSo would you do extended MacKinnon for Matthews?
THIS^.Well the big problem is a lot of the same elements in the current 4. Tkachuk would solve a huge issue of physicality in the top 6, and wouldn’t be making much more than what Nylander is going to get in a couple seasons.
The idea would be to somewhat tank the next couple seasons until Tavares is off the books anyway.
Do you include the Alberta chapter of Leaf Nation in your rant?Leafs are popular, but asking the government for tax reductions for the ultra wealthy (which NHL players are) would cause serious issues even if the taxes on Sports teams rise. Plus, the NHL would probably lose their mind for parity reasons. Plus, non-resident foreign nationals are already open to a ton of tax loopholes to the extent the NBA banned them for us.
Honestly, don't really care. I guess I'm just more Torontonian than Canadian, but bitching about Ontario is an Albertan past-time.
The very first thing people need to do before proposing a trade is to look at it from the other team's point of view - where are they, and what are they trying to do.. But apparently that's not important for Toronto fans before they vomit up some BStrades, and then it morphs into another 'blamefest'.We sure love to lose trades over here.
THIS^. Are Canadians so arrogant that they can't see that Americans don't think like them?Tkachuk doesn't want anything to do with Canada. We aint getting him
Depends on how they feel about Ontario.Do you include the Alberta chapter of Leaf Nation in your rant?
Calgary does.I don’t hate it
Well, he will still drives to the net.No
I wonder about Mackinnon's play as his speed declines. He's not a particularly high IQ player
Knies will freakin blow errrrrbody's mind this season after he returns for the end of the regular season sire.....Leafs get
