Lol, You think Engvall wouldn't have just told Kyle he is going to Arb? These player agents are going to get the best deal for their RFA's when they have ARB rights knowing the teams cant walk away from anything less 4mil.
And could you name the player you would replace Engvall will that will sign for less?
All of us on these boards think we can do a better job than the actual professionals without actually knowing the ins and outs of it, why do you think so many teams walked away from RFA's this offseason. The fear of arbitration and the unknown of it all.

Someone literally posted a list of comparables to Engvall who went to arb and they very rarely went over 2 so lol all you want

Does this fit under the cap? I like it.

Yup!
With Gaudette and De Haan both as spares, you have about 200k spare. Other option for The Larrson spot is obvious ZAR.
I moved Kerfoot and Holl for a 2nd and 4th this year and a 3rd next year (that way we have a pick in each of the first 6 rounds for the next two years) to Anaheim.
I assume they flip Kerfoot at 50% at the TDL for a late first (or something of equal value), as most team would pay a good amount for a 1.75m guy who makes 375k cash and can play middle 6 minutes and PK.
Holl @ 1m also goes likely for a late 2nd at the TDL. In total they move a 2,3,4 for a late 1 and late 2.

It would also be interesting to move Kerfoot and Holl for Comtois straight up, and have Jarnkrok play 3C with Robertson and Engval. Still works $ wise. I have been a HUGE Comtois fan since jr, and Anaheim might be willing to move on after his bad year. Tenacious forechecker, good PKer with size and speed, who in the right situation is a 25-25-50p guy who is annoying as all hell to play against.

The guy on the pairing that shut down all of Tampa's top liners in the playoffs.
We’re they shut down ? I’m pretty sure I saw them get walked a couple times and on for pp goals against I think the shut down is exaggerated my friend as much as their bottom six out did ours that doesn’t mean the top six didn’t perform either

I think with Robertson its more about projecting development than anything. His production at 20 in the AHL suggests that should he take a jump at 21, he would be more than capable of being an NHL regular (and how much of a jump will determine how good of an NHLer).

Its not a fool-proof science of course, he might just not translate. But, 20 year olds with his production in the AHL very rarely flop as NHLers, and he has various tools that are NHL level.
I like the player... a lot. The way that he plays (he doesn't avoid contact) requires him to get bigger and stronger. I'm really hoping that there's a noticeable physical change come training camp.

Fair enough but I recall important goals being scored against them no one’s gonna be perfect and the stats don’t lie but they don’t tell the full truth either but nice response

the biggest goal that got scored on Muzz was the series-winning goal.....after Killorn ripped his stick out of his hands with no call by the refs.
I mean it lost us the series it’s gonna be the biggest goal period it was it the only though ?

it's interesting how scared fans are to project any prospects into the lineup.

Anyways there's no reason why we can't have a whole whack of kids from the last 5 drafts in the lineup this year - Liljegren, Sandin, Robertson, Knies, Abruzzese, Holmberg, (Steeves, Anderson).

It’s not about being scared to project prospects into the lineup, but rather a desire to assemble a cup-worthy roster.

Was that the play when Muzzin tripped Killorn and he fell and landed on Muzzin’s stick?

It's that logic why the Mason Marchments and Carter Verhaeges are playing for other teams

So we should deliberately make a worse team during our contending window? We have specific holes that need to be filled and out prospects don’t match what we need.

To be fair, I did project Marchment into our 4th line the year he was traded lol

Sandin wants to play LD.

Sandin is young and *probably* has a decent amount of time remaining in this league

Muzzin was injured most of last year and has only played 2 playoff series in entirety for Toronto and maybe only has 2 years left in the league.

Who makes sense to keep moving forward?

They are obviously very different players, but in my opinion, the answer is Sandin hands down.

People don't want to move Muzzin because he's EXACTLY what we need more of on this team. A legit big physical player that can handle the puck well and play with other good players.

However, I think we're missing that Muzzin either way. Based on age, playing style, injury history, how he looked for most of last year, etc, I think there are very valid concerns that he won't be that player anymore, at least not for ~18-20+ minutes a night. So I'd rather have the capspace at this point.

They're such a rare breed...it's why his Knies pick was so highly touted when he did it, you can't find one of those guys in trade without giving up a ransom.

A physical 2-way top 4 defenseman? Also worth an absolute haul. I don't want to pick on Dubas because overall, I think he's done decent in his drafts, I think Schneider was the way to go but overall, maybe try to draft some nastier guys than 5'9-5'10 defenenseman? The odds aren't great regardless but there's maybe 2-3 5'9 defenseman in the entire league just by guessing off the top of my head.

This sounds like an incorrect interpretation of what happened

Or from someone who is not familiar with how killorn plays

The whole play was a scrambled mess. There were nothing truly penalty-worthy there.... but if we're going to pretend Killorn should have got a holding penalty, we should also know that Muzzin's stick hit Killorn across the shins right before he fell.

Fair enough.. just pointing out killorn has a fetish for othwr peoples sticks

We're probably an off-season too early on the Muzzin trade. I think next off-season makes more sense to trade him

I think the trade deadline this year will be very active, with teams who run out of the race looking to tank hard for a strong draft year. It would not be the worst play to save cap space (if they get any from trades) and assets; to pick up some players later in the year. This team is probably good enough to crack the playoffs in its current state. Being in the hardest division also makes a 2-3 placement very punishing. Unless they are gunning for first, there isn't much incentive to push hard from the season start.

Bunting I don't think we can go beyond like 4x4 or he's walking and he's likely to get more on the open market.

Robertson, Knies and even Amirov are kinda critical to continue working under the cap structure Dubas has created.

I am hoping Amirov is able to get back onto the ice this year and ideally as a Marlie, we will just give him all the ice time he can handle to help his development.

Robertson looked really good in the AHL once he got back from injury. I’m still high on him.

Knies… looking like a stud.

Amirov, obviously he’s in a battle far not important than developing into an NHL player. Agreed that hopefully he can get back on the ice this season, and hopefully we can bring him over

Obviously it'll all depend on team placements but these defenseman may suit our needs at the TDL

Weegar
Orlov
Dumo
Soucy
Zub
Mayfield
Schenn

Stylistically they all work

Weegar, Zub, Mayfield, Soucy and Schenn are the best fits imo.
