I could see one of them get some looks beside Tavares.

They just need someone there who can skate, play a little physical.
Nylander and Tavares have the hands.

It would get the most bang for the buck that way. I'd love for Robertson to get a chance on the second line

If they keep Kerfoot, they can then drop him down to the third line for some added depth.

Raffl was fantastic against the Flames for Dallas in the playoffs and was great the year before too. By end of the year a 4th line of him with Kampf and NAK would be great. Assuming you get more help further up the lineup.

The rest are fillers I agree but what else we gonna do.

Raffl is fine as a shutdown guy, but won't bring much offense. Just like Kampf put up some timely goals against Tampa, but he too won't be a guy I'd trust to put up major offense either.

I gotta say that I’m a little annoyed that Sandin is asking for more than Lilly.

Lilly after being a staple on the blue line this season got benched in the playoffs and he didn’t complain. Signed a very fair contract early.

My respect for Lilly has only gone up. He grinded away in the AHL and improved his game every year while the media/fans called him a bust too.

A bit surprised Neiderreiter hasn't signed .. but if he lingers on the market there could be some value there in grabbing him.

He is likely looking for a retirement deal (5 x 5 or something like that) but will likely need to settle for less term and money.

He is a poor playoff performer, is turning 30, and while he can probably still reliably put up 25-25 for the next few years, I don't think people want to commit to a huge deal for him.

He does fit stylistically for our 2LW spot, but do we want a guy who has struggled to perform in the playoffs on a larger deal? That is not really what this team needs right now. Dubas has wisely stayed away from high risk deals (except goaltending, but I don't think there was anything out there that wasn't high risk in one way or another) without compromising on upside.

I see a team like Calgary being desperate enough to throw money at Kadri or Niederreiter with the hope of replacing some of Gaudreau's offense, but short of that, Niederreiter may need to settle for a Hoffman-like prove-it deal, or go to a weaker team with more cap space.

Ana needs $9 million to get to the floor maybe Kerfoot and Holl to Anaheim. They only have 4 D signed

Leafs then go and bring back Naz to center line 2.

Tavares - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Naz - Nylander
Roberston - Kampf - Aubel
Engvall - Gaudette - Anderson

Reilly - Brodie
Muzzin - Lilly
Gio - Sandin
Benn
Mete

Long term it's likely a disaster with Kadri, but short term I don't mind it. Likely Nylander is gone in this scenario which I think is happening in 2 years anyways when his contract is up. It's fun to think about.

With his mileage and style of play, he'll be getting a terrible long term contract. But you're right, short term he's a very viable asset.

I am the only one who thinks that Marner and Tavares need to be line mates again? Matthews is more than talented enough to play with anyone really [and Nylander is more than anyone]

Sanford went to Nashville and Hunt went to Colorado. A couple of decent bottom of the lineup guys. That is about it.

Seems like teams operate more in the evening right now.
Gotta keep their golf games sharp.

It's the type of contract that we would regret to be honest. We would be overpaying for the declining years of his career.

Our cap structure doesn't provide any margin for error.

I'm all for it, but does Keefe have the stones to upset Matthews and Marner? Do we want to upset Matthews in particular next season considering we'll likely try to sign him to an extension at some point?

I have to agree. As much as I would like to say that the team comes before anyone, the reality is that this entire season needs to be about convincing Matthews to sign an extension next July.

Yeah, Raffl is one of my targets. Can get him cheap and he and Kampf would make an excellent two thirds of a shutdown line.

I'd move out Kerfoot, Holl and probably Sandin to fit in Kadri personally, if he's willing to take a little less. Short-term it likely works, long-term it's a mess.

I'm surprised the Leafs haven't been rumoured to be trying.

Naz has been playing for a discount his entire career. I think he'll finally cash in on a big, long deal coming off of his career year.

I have an idea. Lets sign Naz to a league min contract and Leaf fans will start a Gofundme with a target of $50 million. There has to be enough Bay Street millionaires to combine and get that for him.

Heck, thats pocket change for Beibs and Drake.
