I agree, by a huge margin. But our opinions don't carry much weight given that I am pretty sure neither of us would have taken Boucher close to 10 (and I am guessing you are high on Grieg, as I have been since before the draft and have only grown higher on him since).

Klingberg was very effective defensively before Bowness, and continued to be effective when playing with skilled players.

I suggest you take a look at Jack Han's article on him. It breaks down his issues very well.

He has his limitations, but he also has the ability to be a legitimate elite player who adds value at every area of the ice.
Cool, I'll take a look at Jack Han's article. I just hope if he is paired with someone like Sanderson(young and will make his mistakes) he can be the more responsible one in his own end.

Cody Goloubef - Del Zotto

If anything the line should be '

Brady - Greig - Boucher
Proper positioning but I do not see Boucher as a VG complementary player to Tkachuk and Greig on a top 2 lines basis.

After the Sens win the Cup this year and Brady does the traditional hand off to the vets first to Talbot, Holden etc - would you be okay when we win the Cuo next year if he just hands the Cup directly to his brother Matthew?

Another thought I had is if we do include formenton in a trade for a Dman, would Evan Rodrigues be a good option to sign?
I’m surprised he isn’t signed yet, he had decent numbers in Pittsburgh, am I missing something about his game?

Getting a guy with no term leaves us in the same spot next summer when they go UFA...and we lose Zub too, with less assets that we sold off for that "Weegar" type of guy.

Wouldn't mind selling futures to Seatle for Larsson like Brannstrom + JBD/Thomson + 2nd.

Probably doesn't affect our future much, as Team doesn't see either of those guys they're trading as a contributing piece, and a 2nd's a 2nd.

Ultimately will hold my breath for a 3-way with Arizona, either with Florida or even with Seattle for Weegar or Chychrun.

To Arizona: Brannstrom + C. Fleury + OTT '24 2nd + SEA '23 2nd; for Chychrun
To Ottawa: Larsson; for Brannstrom + '24 2nd
To Seattle: Chychrun; for Larsson + '23 2nd + Cale Fleury

Going to say no to M. Tkachuk, and definitely not to him being more paid than Brady.
That makes little to no sense to me. Larsson will be definitively better than Thomson/JBD for what, a season? Maaaaaaybe parts of 2? And then the debate will probably be wide open. BUT he'll be 30 in the early part of this upcoming season while JBD and Thomson will be 22. Plus we give up another good asset in Brannstrom and a 2nd? Age differential + player control (RFA vs. UFA) + debatable difference in short-to-medium-term performance makes this an easy no. These are the kinds of deals that send teams on the upswing fishing through the bargain bin and dumping players with AAV and term to keep an increasingly shrinking core together.

Formenton or no Formenton we don’t have much money for a forward on any sort of term. We have some decent internal options that can compete for his spot between Sokolov, Greig and Lodin, all of whom the org has indicated are close to NHL ready. That or a vet on a one year deal would make the most sense if we lose him.

Nobody is touching Formenton with a ten-foot pole right now, but Sonny Milano would be a solid replacement.

I just don't understand trading Brown when this was always a real possibility.

Replacing formy if the worst should come out shouldn’t be the end of the world. The third line has two good players on it already.

I feel like we need to sign a 3LW now based on FA market.
Someone like Danton Heinen would be a good pick up

At this point I just want them to get rid of Zaitsev. While replacing him with Dehaan on a 1 year deal he wants to come here and is willing to sign for cheap. Then just having Holden play RD or maybe Thomson wins a spot or Branny switches over.

Just want Zaitsev outta here.

Chabot - Hamonic
Sanderson -Zub
Dehaan - Holden
Brannstrom - Thomson

For the love of god stop trying to trade Formenton. He either has value or he doesnt, but he is literally exactly what this team needs on the third line with the type of top 6 forwards they have. Especially losing Brown. Also if you are assuming he wont be playing this year and are trying to fill that hole getting a soft small fowards isnt going to do it. They need someone to PK and is hard to play against. Niederreiter would be the best option by far.

The Sens are long overdue for the cup. If you think about the amount of talent that has come and come from this team over the years, it hard to believe we have only been to the cup finals once.

Hossa, Havlat, Alfredsson, Bonk, Spezza, Heatly, Karlsson, Stone, Gonchar, Yashin, Redden, Fisher, Chara, Tierney

Injury concerns or not, Chychrun is the answer. Perfect contract, perfect term, absolutely STACKS the left side. Lives in the Ottawa area in the off-season. Same age as our core. American. He would take 5 tough minutes a night away from Chabot and completely insulates Sandy on the 3rd pair.

I don't see why you're only allowed to have one. Brown is the perfect 3rd liner on a contending team (we're trying to be good this year, right?) and does pretty much everything. There was no reason to rush when the third line has so much uncertainty now, and that's something Dorion definitely knew about.

If we don't get a top 4D then Zaitsev is definitely staying next season isn't he? Especially with the bonus already paid out?

Since his contract is still on the books next year too, I'd bet they would take the opportunity to still move him out if it presents itself.
That would make sense to trade him before his next bonus is due, but I'm starting to think PD is not really in a rush to move him anymore until then. Could've been a perfect summer if he was swapped out with someone more capable. Hopefully Thomson and JBD get a lot of reps instead.

It could go either way. I'm still betting that he's moved and a different body is brought in, for better or worse.
