Not sure how to feel about Chychrun. I'm not sure he's "the guy". He's basically a LD that had to switch to RD due to circumstances. He's played a lot longer and better at LD with RDs like Goligowski as an example. It might be better for Dorion to stay away and look for other alternatives, and even more so based on the rumored ask.

Or they could move Chabot to RD.

Assen na yo!

I honestly think you are incapable of writing anything positive about the Sens and especially Dorion.

You are becoming worse than that old poster FolignoQuantumLeap who seems to have taken off from here thankfully

I literally said in my post I like the trade and think it was a smart move to make

NYI going to same bridge route I imagine Ottawa will - 3 year bridge. We'll see what AAV Dobson got but I imagine it'll be just short of what Stutzle gets ~6M.

I see Dobson as a current #2/3 RHD with future #1-2 potential.

Romanov at 2.5M AAV x 3 years is a bit surprising to me. Would have thought he'd get closer to 3.5M on that term.

It's not a bad situation, because you can always flip a LHD if need be later.

The issue is the obscene asking price.
How obscene is the asking price really for a contending team? Let's say the two firsts end up 25 OA, and the prospect is a guy like JBD.

Some 25 OA prospects, Tufte, Poehling, Roslovick, Pasternak, McCarron,

It can go sideways if they draft a Pastrnak, but I'd be fine trading the next Poehling and McCaron with JBD for him for example.

It’s not as if JC is a proven top pairing guy, and 25 OA is pretty optimistic as well given our division and past performance.

I think he’s the biggest name in a very weak market at the moment.

Ultimately I’d like to stay a contender for a window of time and IMO that means not trading three first round picks in three years as it leaves a big potential hole in your ELC pipeline.

One first and a 1st rounder prospect, maybe another prospect is as far as I would go.

I just saw a ranking placing him at 18oa heading into this season. Chabot was 8th btw.

I don't put a lot of stock in to those various website rankings though. I did hear a couple of times last season when NHL participation was still on the table for the Olympics that Chychrun was on Team Canada's radar. I don't really watch Arizona games but the TC radar is impressive.

I'd go our 2023 first and Greig (assuming there's no issue with Formenton).

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, he was playing ahead of OEL in their last year together

If we end guy getting JC, would having Sanderson start his career on the 3rd pairing really be the worst thing?

Chabot-Zub
Chychrun-Hamonic
Sanderson-Holden
JBD/Lassi

Seems respectable

Sanderson likely is starting on the 3rd pair regardless of who we get.

Okay screw Arizona.

To Ottawa
Noah Dobson 3 x 4M AAV RFA at expiry
Josh Bailey 2 x 5M AAV (7M owed)

To NYI
Zaitsev 2 x 4.5M AAV (7M owed)
2023 1st Top 10 protected
Ridly Grieg or Shane Pinto (Long Island native)

Personally, I think Dobson is a a clear cut number 1 elite D who will get Norris consideration this year

In 4 years he will be very expensive but for now his cap hit is an absolute steal.

I expect Sanderson to also follow the Dobson/Werenski contract path.

If Ottawa wants to bridge Sanderson this is an excellent comp.

I would pay way more for Dobson than Chychrun and I'm a big Chychrun fan.

That Dobson bridge deal is fair for both sides. Guys like Nelson, Palmieri, will finish their deals by the time Dobson needs a new contract.

Now to see how Barzal performs in a contract year, especially without Trotz stifling his offensive play

I’d do that deal! My guess is that Lou just chuckles to himself.
Hopefully he see's Zaitsev being available and goes full homer on his past Toronto deals

I don’t know what Isles get from this

They have a very solid D and need a blue chip ELC forward who is ready to play now. It provides them sufficient cap space to acquire the scoring forward they need such to compete today such as Kane.

Really ? What is Dobson worth in trade in your opinion.
A whole, whole, whole lot more than a top 10 protected pick and a prospect. Would pay much more than what Chychrun would cost.

Think of what we'd want for Tkachuk right after signing a 3 year, 12 million dollar deal, that's what it would take to get Isles even picking up the phone on Dobson
