With uncertainty around Batherson & Formenton, plus the possibility of Joseph getting a 1-yr arbitration award that takes him to UFA, I could see us kicking the tires on one of Puljuarvi, Foegele, Yamamoto. They'd all be really cheap

Maybe I missed something, but why is there uncertainty around Batherson and Formenton? Is it because they haven’t released any statement, or is it because something/someone ties them to the alleged incident?

Goto the CHL scandal thread. This is the Randy Timmins thread.

Wouldn't Joseph still have an extra year of RFA?

Anyways, arbitration is ugly. Either they settle before or he probably won't even last more than a year in Ottawa.

Year 1 I’m thinking
1-1.2 for Brannstrom
1.5 for Formenton
1.2 is what we gave to Josh Brown a couple years ago with less experience and less upside than Brannstrom, I think that's probably a floor for Brannstrom not the ceiling.

Formenton had 18 goals and 32 pts as a rookie, I suppose a lot depends on term with him, you might be able to get him lower on a one year deal, but if you want 2 or more years I think you need to go higher.

All the more reason to not take him.
I want players that eat breathe hockey.
Sleep at the rink. Eat pucks and piss gatorade.
What if it was a hockey themed wedding, and the honeymoon was to the Hockey Hall of Fame?

These guys have no arb rights which limits their leverage, also note that this was specific to year 1 salary and not AAV on a multi year deal.

Ok, If you're just talking about real dollars in year one of say a short bridge deal, I think those are reasonable numbers, though I also think it's quite possible they go higher and just don't back load as much.

Am I crazy or is that really high for Washington? No Backstrom and missing Wilson for a long time as well. I don't really dig that roster while those players are out. They likely roll Strome and Brown on a second line.

I think wild card spots are very much up for grabs this year, Hopefully we can start out much much better than we have so far under DJ.
