Boro was fine in his role too imo, but I wouldn't call that messing up.
Thoughts on Scott Mayfield?
If the rumour is true that NYI have signed Kadri, but need to shed salary, I wonder if they would part with him.
They already have Pulock and Dobson on the right side, and Romanov that could play either side.
He’s a Free Agent after this year, but might be a good stop gap until we figure out if JBD or Thomson can stick.
Yah, that’s sort of my thinking. He would be sweet but with only a 1.45M cap hit this year he seems like an unlikely cap dump candidate.
Perhaps we could convince them to utilize him as a sweetener in exchange for taking on Bailey.
Would offer them JBD/Thomson for Bailey + Mayfield if we could talk extension with Mayfield beforehand.

Bailey/Beauvillier could be great stop gap tweener wings if the HC stuff drags out. Could be had for cheap and their contracts aren't that bad - 5M and 4.125M respectively x 2 years in cap hit but only 3.5M x 2 years for salary for Bailey. He would be sweet but with only a 1.45M cap hit this year he seems like an unlikely cap dump candidate.

I'd be fully on board for this. Bailey would be great insurance if our guys get suspended. If not we'll have to shed some salary. I like Mayfield. He would be sweet but with only a 1.45M cap hit this year he seems like an unlikely cap dump candidate.

I disagree. He was also effective with Wideman, he actually played very well the first season under Boucher as the system really meshed with his skillset. The next year he played up with Ceci which didn't work out, and Boucher's last year everyone had checked out but as a third pair guy he was fine, we just sucked overall. He carried a bad rep from his first few years imo that I thought was never fair. Again, as you mentioned, he was very good with Demelo on the third pair.Boro was fine the one season he got paired up with Demelo. The rest ranged from terrible to below average.
I believe Dorion still wants it to happen. I just don't think Dorion will pay the asking price or that Arizona will lower the asking price. Not a juicy rumour but Brent Wallace says Ottawa is still very much in on Jakob Chychrun on the latest Wally & Methot podcast.

I remember Phaneuf being effective in Ottawa for 1.5 years after being acquired. The year we traded him the whole team collapsedBoro,Gudbranson,J.Brown,Hamonic,Gryba,Cowem,Ceci,Phanuef,Wiercioch....all sucked as Senators. Time to turn the page and actually construct a good defence.,
Effective at being terrible defensively and taking penalties.I remember Phaneuf being effective in Ottawa for 1.5 years after being acquired. The year we traded him the whole team collapsed

He got into trouble when you play him in the top 4 or with an AHL caliber partner (guys like Clarkson and Jaros).
As someone mentioned, Mayfield seems an unlikely candidate to be moved if they're trying to save cap.Thoughts on Scott Mayfield?

People forget how good he was for us until he completely and utterly fell off a cliff. He was a rock for us.I remember Phaneuf being effective in Ottawa for 1.5 years after being acquired. The year we traded him the whole team collapsed
Doubt they trade their #1-2D to make room for Kadri. As someone mentioned, Mayfield seems an unlikely candidate to be moved if they're trying to save cap.
That said, maybe there is another move they might make (Pulock ideally) that could work.
Probably not, but they did trade Toews.Doubt they trade their #1-2D to make room for Kadri.
