Yeah, it's 5M AAVSharks gave Wennberg 2.5 X 2 - I guess that's ok for a 3C with no offensive ability.
Edit: Oh shit! It's 2 X 5!

And that's why we aren't spending today. Laf gets at least that for next year.
You would have been livid if they gave Laf that contract last offseason.Slafkovsky extended 8x7.6
look at that, you can extend young talent BEFORE they break out completely.
(this is the deal smart fans wanted to give Laf last offseason)
instead, our fans love most to trade our young talent at their lowest value for peanuts
I will never understand 8 year deals out of the ELC.
remember when they were well loved prospects? There's still time to kick the tires on Lundkvist and Andersson. 1-year, $900,000 contracts sound good?
i was specifically advocating for a long term extension for laf last offseasonYou would have been livid if they gave Laf that contract last offseason.
The offseason is far from over. Still options out there. Is anyone else surprised Drury didn't sign 2 d-men, even as depth guys, today? Even if Jones is to play every night, they don't have NHL depth
The alternative is to sign him to a bridge, which won't be cheap either, and then pay him even more two years later.I will never understand 8 year deals out of the ELC.
$23M for Slaf, Suzuki, and Caufield until the end of time. That's a very nice 2nd line.
That's great... but why would Laf have signed a deal after such a poor season?i was specifically advocating for a long term extension for laf last offseason

There's never surplus value in these things. You're hoping to get a good cap hit years 4-7 years down the line instead of just definitely getting a great cap hit the next couple years of their bridge. You would have been livid if they gave Laf that contract last offseason.
Seems like yesterdayremember when they were well loved prospects?
I'd love to give someone a huge contract out of a bridge deal, that means they played awesome.I think it's mostly they're scared to give them even bigger contracts if they smash would-be bridge deals. But you'd have to have a whole ton of confidence in them to be giving out max term straight after ELCs.
