Not the type Staios will want.If anything I think we should try to prioritize getting a guy like Fabbro.

Batherson +If Peterka wants out, we gotta go full throttle to get him.
What will it take? Gotta think Greig/Zetterlund part of the package.
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if in a couple years only Sanderson and Kleven are left of the bunch. Our top 4D definitely need some work. All good players but the wrong mix. Teams just throw it at the pads and our D don't have the strength to tie them up or move them out of the way.
Could see 2 of 3 of Chabot/Zub/Jensen moved for different type of D, similar to how we moved Norris for Cozens.

It’ll be interesting to see how the defense does in the playoffs.
Our defence reminds me a bit of Winnipeg’s the last few years. Great defensively, mobile, but may struggle with the physicality of the playoffs. Our top 4D definitely need some work. I could see one of them moved, I’d say Zub, with his injury history. Our top 4D definitely need some work. All good players but the wrong mix. Teams just throw it at the pads and our D don't have the strength to tie them up or move them out of the way.

plus apparently he was asking about zetterlund for a whileStaois isn't trading Zetterlund months after trading for him. With how the lines had been playing, I understood Green keeping him on the 4th line to not mess with chemistry but it's clear that hes viewed as a top 9 guy, and probably the successor to Perron or Giroux down the line.

And paid a real price to get him. You don't trade Ostapchuk and a 2nd for Zetterlund - who is just about to become expensive - unless you see him as a significant piece, probably as a top 6 winger.
While I agree with your premise, I think there is a possibility that the Senators aren't high on the draft this year. The Norris trade returned a 2026 2nd when Buffalo had a 2025 - and they moved a 2025 2nd instead of a 2026 in the Zetterlund trade. Given the context that we have heard this draft characterized as very weak in the late 1st and beyond, it's possible that they weren't viewing it like it would produce a 2nd round talent with that pick.
Honestly, I thought Zetterlund came pretty cheap considering some of the price of rentals, and the fact that he still has team control. But it really depends on how you view Ostapchuk and whether you think he is still a close to first round type talent.

Ya was a nice trade.I'm guessing you're right that they don't love the 2nd round talent this year - not enough Ben Rogers for their liking. But the main asset going back was Ostapchuk, and I suspect the Sens still value him very highly. They drafted him very high (relative to where he was projected), he's developed about as well as they could have hoped, and on his way out the door the AHL coach called him a 15 year NHLer.
In terms of tradable top prospects (i.e. guys not named Yak or Levi who have real league-wide value), he was the best (and arguably only) asset they had, and they used him to get Zetterlund.
SSM Q&A is on. So mad that they didn't answer my question about whether or not they read the HFBoards trade thread.
