You're right, I was looking at Francois Perron haha ...Perron is right, says he always plays right side and prefers it.

Some can’t resist a gotcha.He's just pointing out that they are willing to give up a later pick rather than wait it out. If this years pick is late they've already shown that they are willing to give it up rather than wait by offering the Boston pick last year, even though it was obviously turned down by the league.
Don't know how we make the cap hit work, especially for Tanev where we'd need double retention+...
But we should be going for some depth LW/LD that fit the group:
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
??? - Norris - Batherson
??? - Pinto - Perron
Greig - Ostapchuk - Amadio
Gregor/Gaudette/Cousins (inj) should be in the stands or on LTIR until the playoffs.
Sanderon - Zub
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Matinpalo
??? - Hamonic
??? - JBD
Need some depth on LD in case we need it.
Blech, both players are lukewarm.Clock ticking on Ottawa Senators with NHL trade deadline set for March 7
Trades begin happening in the National Hockey Leagueottawacitizen.com
Bruce says we’re interested in Ryan Donato and Brandon Tanev.
Blech, both players are lukewarm.
Does that make sense?
We may make the playoffs but are we a legit contender that is a Tanev/Donato away from being put over the top?
Why are we buying-high on a rental with a high pick that will only make a marginal difference when we have a bad prospect pool and few quality picks in the next couple years?
Senators shouldn’t be paying for Tanev with any double retention, shouldn’t be wasting what little assets they have.Tanev is 875k with double retention. The Senators would clear that by sending a player whose spot he takes down.
If there is any truth to them wanting to move Norris, I think they want a similar result to want happened with JT Miller, where Vancouver filled 2-3 roster spots.
Unless we have someone going back on LTIR, it will be difficult to add more than one player most likely. Unless they are confident enough in Ullmark's health to trade Forsberg.
I agree, but how are you going to get rid of Perron & his contract ($4 mil) at his age & after such a poor yr given his circumstances? IMO all the UFAs should probably walk with the exception of Giroux who I would re-sign at a cheaper salary. I would also get rid of a few RFAs including Gregor.
Next yr I would promote Merilainen to replace Forsberg (UFA), Ostapchuk to replace Cousins (UFA) & Halliday to replace Gaudette (UFA). I would look to make a trade for McCarron C/RW at the trade deadline for our 4th line to replace Gregor on the roster. McCarron is a legitimate enforcer since MacEwan can't seem to stay in the lineup for whatever reason.
I would then look to sign a top six RW who can play our style like Boeser who knows Green. Both Yakemchuk RD & Montgomery LW should be in Belleville next yr & could be injury callups. The team is bigger, tougher, faster & has more offence while still playing great defensively & reducing goals against.
Which 6 players would you want on your team below Merilainen or Forsberg side?
Merilainen -> Forsberg UFA
Ostapchuk -> Cousins UFA
Boeser -> Gaudette UFA
McCarron -> Gregor RFA
Matinpalo -> Hamonic UFA
Halliday -> Highmore UFA
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Boeser
Giroux - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Perron - Montgomery replaces Perron after next season
Ostapchuk - McCarron - Amadio/Halliday
Sanderson - Zub
Chabot - Jensen - Yakemchuk replaces Jensen after next season
Kleven - Matinpalo/JBD
Ullmark - Merilainen
Have you not liked what Perron had brought since returning to the lineup. He’s been a valuable addition in my view.Merilainen at $1M is much preferred over Forsberg and his $2.75M contract; glad Forsberg is UFA
Ostapchuk at $0.825M acceptable
Cousins at $0.8M (2024-25 salary) is OK to retain if he resigns at $1M
Boeser will cost much more than Gaudette but the new 95.5M Salary Cap might make it possible to sign him
Gaudette at $1M or less might be OK for a 13th F
McCarron or preferably Olivier would be a great add to the bottom 6 to add some muscle; I doubt Olivier signs here.
Matinpalo is preferable to Hamonic and JBD and likely would cost about $1M
I do not want Highmore nor Halliday
Giroux will have to take a salary cut from his $6.5M to $3-$4 M.
Perron at $4M is a waste of money; hope he improves his play but I doubt he will at his age.
I think it would cost us a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick to get rid of Perron.
Perron will have to play better to be worth his $4M. I hope he does but I have concerns about him at his age.Have you not liked what Perron had brought since returning to the lineup. He’s been a valuable addition in my view.
Anton?I expect to see Perron or Brady on Timmys line moving forward. That being said, we need to find someone for Anton
However, if we make the playoffs this season, I expect to make the playoffs next season and possibly to win a round more than this season which would make the #1 draft pick lower in the 2026 draft. So, I would keep the 2025 pick and give up the 2026 pick. Plus if I were Andlauer I would be a real bitch at the NHL Board about the Bettman punishment for Dorion's lack of due diligence (overkill).It's a weaker class, but we should be able to get a good prospect if we finish in the 10-20 range.
Once you get into the bottom 3rd of the 1st, it starts to fall off pretty hard IMO.
Still giving up the 1st this year shouldn't be off the table if we end up making the playoffs.
LeeviI expect to see Perron or Brady on Timmys line moving forward. That being said, we need to find someone for Anton
My opinion is that Perron is about the same as Amadio. Neither player hurts us but neither contributes a whole lot either. Perron at least brings some physicality.Have you not liked what Perron had brought since returning to the lineup. He’s been a valuable addition in my view.

Anton?
He’s probably here for the rest of the year, especially with Ullmark and back strains.I mean someone to take Anton
