I'll be in the building tonight trying to get scoops.

If you see someone in a red Ceci jersey, go up to him and say "hi frightened inmate number 2", if I act confused or aloof, it's because I don't want to blow my cover.

Gonna see if there is a closet or small desk that I can hide behind to find out what the return is for Josh Norris.

Wish me luck.

I'm going to guess that the base will be Strome+Fowler+fringe NHL skater for Norris+Amadio+JBD.

That is within 1M of cap in/out. Sens have about 300k in space with a health 23 player roster, so it would force them to go 22 players when Zub returns from LTIR.

Strome is a former Oiler.

Can someone give me the lowdown on the twitter stuff?

Well two people on towtter said
1 were trying to make a deal in the west.
2 we have a deal being work on with the rangers.

And then another guy said rangers have something big coming but did not mention the senators.
Which people?

Uhh.... Elon bought it for a shit ton of money, fired a bunch of staff, renamed it to x throwing away years of brand recognition because... x is a cool letter or something, and recently people have been migrating to other options like threads and bluesky ostensibly due to it becoming a bit more toxic than in the past?

Not sure how that relates to the thread though...

What even is Fowler at this point in his career? I honestly don’t know.

Not to mention backed by some oligarchs, saudis and some investment from…Sean Combs!

Bro.. someone with your exact pictures and username on twitter. Said we were dealing with the west.

These are not hard insiders. I’m just posting what I read.

One guy is Jordan schmaltz who has started a little twitter thing. But he didn’t mention the sens he just mentioned New York is planning something big

I mean, Norris+Amadio isn't exactly prime rib either.

I don't think we can expect to get an actual return on Norris. It will be a swap for another flawed player with term.

The reason I think Strome+Fowler makes sense instead of just Fowler is that the Senators need another middle 6 center. Strome is not playing great, but it's a beggars can't be choosers type scenario. I also think Anaheim would want to move out more term and money to take on Norris.

I think Norris is worth more to us than he is in a trade, our vaunted center depth isn't really showing the signs of life needed to make Norris expendable, and moving him now would only serve to alleviate the risk of a future injury that may never come while making us a worse team.

The play with Norris imo is to let him prove the injury concerns are in the past and then consider moving him if Pinto or Greig show they are ready to take over.

If we need to move someone to shore up another spot, Greig is probably the piece, he's still got the upside people want to get a decent return, and will need a new contract that maybe we aren't ready to commit to. Not saying I want to move him, but he's the guy I think gives us the best chance of improving the roster without getting ripped off.

They were shopping him last year prior to him re-injuring the shoulder. So either, they know something that gives them concern about the liability of his contract, or they don't see him as a fit long-term.

I think the return is going to be a C+D for Norris and another player. The return will look like a downgrade and not make sense to people who are just looking at the on paper ability of the players. It will be more about passing on the liability of the Norris contract to another team who is in a better position to gamble on him. Anaheim makes sense because while they are a budget team, they have a lot of cap flexibility going forward. They also aren't an attractive destination because of taxes, they routinely have to overpay UFAs. So getting a possible center who they can plug in at 20 minutes a night while moving out a few veterans who don't have much of a trade market at their current cap hits could be seen as a huge win, even if it comes with long-term risk.

If Norris can play out the season he has more value than people think.

People are upset he's not scoring more - he's scoring at the same rate Brady Tkachuk is at even strength. There are definitely coaches and GMs who will think they can fix Josh Norris on the powerplay if he continues to score at even strength.

Well, last year Pinto was on fire, circumstances change. The longer he goes and stays healthy, the lower the perceived risk of a future shoulder injury becomes and the more value you can extract in a trade, last year, they may have preferred to just cut bait and take the hit, now, he's performing better, and they can see a future where he might shake that injury prone reputation.

If we move with the Quacks, I'd love to get Vatrano even if he needs a new contract next year. The dude will go on a scoring spree next to Stu, but he's also on the wrong end of 30.

Not sure if the Ducks are the best trading partner for Ottawa

I know there was a lot of noise around Norris but I don’t actually think he gets moved. IMO Brady has to be the first domino to fall because whatever happens with him dictates what else you do.

If you keep Brady, then that means the shake up has to happen elsewhere and almost certainly means you have to make the playoffs ASAP. So maybe in a situation like that, Norris is a trade chip to enhance the depth.

If you trade Brady then you have to consider the return - whether it’s young players or prospects or picks that probably informs your timeline and what you’d be looking for if you traded Norris. And realistically it becomes tough to trade Norris if Brady is gone because you’ve already taken a huge chunk of offense off your roster. I’m not sure there is much logic to moving him at that point.

i agree, hes on pace for 31 goals only 41 players got that last year.

if he ends the season with 30 plus goals there will be a market for a goal scorer. Also should we be trading one of our two shoot first forwards?
