I would take laf+Schneider for tkachuk easily. I highly highly doubt the Rangers would consider that. Schneider is a considerable asset.

I wish we had our first for the next 2 years so we could have more hope.
I'd do Laf + Schneider as well, but I feel we'd have to take one of the Rags contracts that they're trying to shed (Kreider) and would have to send something else to them to make the cap work.

I think they would do Lafreniere+Schneider+1st in a second unless they had reason to believe they had leverage not to have to give up full value. Tkachuk resets their entire franchise.

It's always difficult to say with these trades, because returns like Weegar+Huberdeau+1st are the exception to the rule, but they do happen.

As long as our ownership refuses to trade Brady if he demands a trade once his NMC kicks in. Otherwise, trade him before we get pennies in return when he forces a trade to a team without cap space.

Brady is not going to demand a trade out of here. No chance.

There is a pretty decent chance he ends up wanting out.

We would hardly be the first team this has happened to. This has literally also happened to us before. A few times.

Why wouldn't he?

His NTC is coming up this summer, I'd certainly think of making use of it after 7 years of circular failure

That is a gigantic hurdle for the Sens

A NMC isn't a get traded when you want to clause. He's got three years left after this season, once the NMC kicks in, it makes very little difference to us whether we trade him Jul 2025 or Jul 2027.

We either trade him before it kicks in, or get the ship back on course before the start of the 2027-28 season, otherwise we'll move him to his desired team(s) before that last season. There's no need to demand a trade,

7 years of failure is certainly enough.

I don't know about you, but I certainly don't want a 3 year side show going on, which has a very, very strong possibility of happening. We are watching the frustration and melting point being approached live. That goes on for another 5 months, a trade before a request or a formal request is likely to follow

Even from Staios’ perspective, it’s not like he can legitimately feel confident in fixing this team this summer. He can try to move some pieces, but like we do every season, we’ll head into the season with a ton of uncertainty about where we land.

It would be a bad risk to take to let Brady’s NMC kick in for that reason, unless Brady promises undying loyalty which let’s be honest, is not happening.

I think the team will opt to trade him before the NMC kicks in to maximize the return if it looks like we aren't going to be able to turn the ship around. If we're looking like we're back on track, I don't see him demanding a trade.

Agreed if we are in the playoffs there is no issue; this is all with the outlook that the team we are watching, though good for a 3 week portion of the early season, is not well put together and looking like another basement dweller 1/4 of the way through the season

Would be par the course for the Sens of the past 8 years
I haven't paid much attention to Fowler over the last few years, I used to like him, but no clue how he's been playing lately other than the stats.

He's a UFA, and I don't see how we make it work under the cap unless they retain and we send someone back.

He also doesn't seem to address the RD need unless he can play his offside (i really don't remember if he's done that).

Hs's a UFA in 2026, so we'd have 2 years at 6.5 million on the books for a redundant LD

Some noise about sens being linked to Fowler now? Garrioch apparently reporting it
The article was really just highlighting names of dmen that might be available moreso than the Sens actually being linked to them.

Bruce lists guys “league executives” have named and then basically says the Sens will probably have to find answers from within. None of them make any sense tbh.

Not a lot of names that make sense there...

Seth Jones? Hard to justify that contract, we'd probably have to send Norris just to make it fit, and I can't imagine we want that 9.5 on the books until he's 35
Fowler, doesn't check boxes that we need.
Pettersson, another Lefty, not seeing much of a fit.
