For me it'd be the value of him stepping up so that someone like Tkachuk doesn't have to. Come regular season, I want Tkachuk hopefully hitting 40g this season, instead of being tossed in a game. If McEwan steps up, he might even get another NHL contract after next season
Guys like Jenkins, Ostapchuk and even Greig will drop them. Have a heavyweight in the A you can call up for 2 minutes of icetime against certain opponents.

Macewen should be sent
You aren't wrong, but it was for a pretty dirty hit. Anyone can do that if they're willing to cross the line. Most players just respect their peers more than to be out there trying to hurt people with blindside hits.
eh, Greig's hit was also dirty but its also part of playing on the edge. Wifi def was more dirty but I can understand the response. If the sens want to play a more physical style of hockey they are going to also have. to fight some battles.

I don't entirely disagree. I just mean that if taking cheap shots on players is the what they bring, anyone can do that if they choose to, it doesn't require toughness. Admittedly, only a few are willing to go there, so I guess that's what those guys bring to the table. I give Greig a little more of a pass cuz it wasn't quite the headhunt job imo, but also because he brings other things to the table, he's an agitator and can score, he's not a borderline AHLer. Just rubs me the wrong way I guess to see plugs taking cheap shots at stars.

Maybe Boko Imama will end up on waivers. He's not great as an actual player, but at least he knows what his job is.

If we weren't saddled with MacEwen's one-way contract, I wonder if he'd have been back this year. I'd take him as the 13th forward over Zach MacEwen at this point.
I don’t think MacEwan’s contract is a problem. Andlauer is spending a ton on Belleville

I suspect MacEwen's status was a factor for Imama and his agent when deciding whether to re-sign with the organization.

And while I'm sure Andlauer would eat the cost on MacEwen, the tie still goes to the guy you have to pay one-way money.

Well, MacEwen gets 775k in the AHL, Gaudette is 450k, Highmore 400k and Jenik is 190, the cost is pretty minimal in the scheme of things,

If the Canadiens ever move Xhekaj, I wonder if Staios would go after him because of the Bulldogs connection.

He seems to be on the fringe of being an NHLer. He won't be waiver exempt forever, so it's possible that if they don't think he will get to the next level, maybe they try to "sell high" and get a decent asset for him. I could see him appealing to a team like San Jose, where he would more easily figure into the NHL lineup, and they might need someone to protect their many young stars.

He would be much more appealing if he could be an effective 4th line winger. It's entirely possible that he gets to the point where he is an effective bottom pair D, but if his bread and butter is going to be one of the few modern day enforcers, it's a lot easier to manage a player like that as a winger.
