Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals [MOD - Stay on Topic] 5

I could see the Sens offering Greig, the Rangers asking for Pinto, and the two sides reaching a stalemate.

I don't see the Sens moving Pinto at this point. Even if he's having poor start, he's such an important piece in the lineup and as insurance for Norris.
Is Pinto an important piece? At this point in his career I'd say there's been a lot more sizzle than there's been steak.

I have no idea what he is as an NHL player. Outside of a 20 game run centering Tkachuk last season he's never been very productive. Defensive results have been adequate. He's soft. Doesn't seem to handle the puck or distribute it the way you'd hope a top-6 center would. Impressive physical profile though.

He couldn't fill in for Norris right now even if we needed him to - he's just not playing well enough.

I would think Pinto is a prime candidate to be moved.

He scored 20 goals playing mostly on the third line his rookie year, that's good production given the role,

Feels like some teams are perpetually trying to find centres to acquire, similar to us with right shot dmen.

I hope Ottawa treads carefully whoever they decide to trade, if they do. The reality is the day will come where someone probably needs to go, but I hope they don’t sell low on anyone. The fanbase is quick to react when someone has a bad year, but Norris this year is an example of how much can change from one season to another.

he played with debrincat and batherson in his rookie season. I think he's still a good player and exceptionally smart, but I don't think he's a game breaker.
He played (and scored) with a bunch of guys that year, Motte and Joseph, Brassard, Gauthier, but your right, he was getting lots of time with the broken version of Batherson and Debrincat due to Norris' injury, I'd forgotten about that, so fair point.

Edit, agreed he isn't a game breaker, I see 50-60 pts two way middle 6 guy as his potential

Trading Norris in season would be incredibly risky with how Pinto or Greig are playing. They need a C coming back.

Maybe Kreider was the wrong guess. Maybe it would be Chytil+Lindgren for Norris+JBD. With the idea being that Chytil is a proxy for retaining on Norris, and Lindgren is the return for Norris, who ever with Chytil at 3 x 4.4M coming back, would be a very difficult contract to move.

Chytil missed almost the entirety of last season with injuries. Norris, also had injuries, but he has also shown he could come back and play in a big role. The contract of Norris is much riskier, which would have to play into it.

I have never seen a Norris trade proposal that I am not wildly underwhelmed by and that wouldn’t effectively make us worse.

All for cap space so we can sign 3 Amadio’s every summer.

Might as well keep him.

They are in a tough spot with Norris. His contract is probably being viewed as a substantial negative, and a major risk which is not altogether unfair. On the other hand, he's been one of the better forwards on the team so far this season. So any trade you make with this guy is likely to make you worse in the short-term, and quite possibly long-term as well.

If they want to make changes there really aren't a lot of options. You aren't going to touch Stützle, and unless you have a good indication that he's disgruntled then you aren't touching Tkachuk either. Batherson is probably giving you too much value on his contract to want to move. Giroux could perhaps move as a deadline rental, but that doesn't help. The guys at the bottom of the barrel [Gregor, Cousins, Amadio, Perron] aren't getting you anything.

Just seems like one of Greig or Pinto is the logical option here.

I really don't know who would take Trouba at 8 mil.

Idk how we could even make it work with him 50% retained, just doesn't seem like an option...

Zub for Trouba@~50%? Does that even help us? I think I'd prefer zub, but maybe I'm being a homer on this...

would have to be retention and they'd have to move money out somehow .. likely not happening here

Perron would be a guy that would move but with his family issues it I can't see that happening

I don't see where zub for trouba at half helps us. If trouba was still good maybe.

However....the fact that we've been chatting with NY recently....fuels the fire on this kind of scenario for sure.

They can take amadio and perron back please. f***....

Trouba is scratched tonight for trade purposes supposedly. Others say he could hit waivers.

I don't watch Rangers game, but I certainly get the impression that Trouba is not just overpaid but actively not good anymore. Rangers fans talk about him like he's an $8M Hamonic.

Yeah, I can't say I watch a lot either, but I haven't noticed him being that bad in the games I watch.

I also think the expectations that go along with an 8 mil contract colour how people talk about a player. People were very critical of Chabot the last few years, but if he was getting 4 mil, they'd likely have been quite happy with him. Is that what is going on with Trouba, idk, he has some hard miles on his body, the same way Hamonic does, so maybe he's just past that best before date.

Like I said, I'd rather just keep Zub, I was just trying to figure out a way it could work, and that's the only thing that popped in my mind.

Went to look at thier board to see what's up with Trouba. They trading us every bad piece they have for Brady...and we need to add. Lol

What could Giroux bring back in a TDL trade? First Rounder and “A” prospect?
He has a full NMC so ala Tarasenko he can essentially decide where he goes. That will significantly impact his value. It will be closer to 2nd + B prospect I imagine.

Trouba makes 6M in real dollars.

Columbus being interested makes sense. They are a budget team. If the Rangers took Gudbranson instead of retaining, the net cost to upgrade Gudbranson to Trouba would only be 2.5M.

I doubt Gudbranson is insured and he is out indefinitely after shoulder surgery.

Columbus gets an upgrade/reclamation at a low real money cost, and the Rangers get 4M of cap space (7M or so if they replace Trouba with a warm body and go into LTIR).
