So adding a 4th line plug is going to make Matthews and gang stop playing soft? Why not tell Matthews and gang to stop playing soft and not waste money and a roster spot on a plug?Because they play soft and scared.
That you do a lotI only speak for myself, but personally, I would prefer it if they signed good players to play on the team.
He’s not a good fighter, and doesn’t even like the role.
Because it hasn’t worked in 7 years, could always keep banging your head against the wall and hope they change. So adding a 4th line plug is going to make Matthews and gang stop playing soft? Why not tell Matthews and gang to stop playing soft and not waste money and a roster spot on a plug?
How is it a poor example of exploiting a teams weakness if you find one?Albeit a poor one.
If Matthews and Co. are being bullied by the top lines of other teams, how does 4th liner Reaves and his 6 minutes of ice time help? Is Keefe going to put Reaves out against other teams top lines so the Leafs can get scored on? They had Simmons why were they soft with Simmonds on the bench?Because it hasn’t worked in 7 years, could always keep banging your head against the wall and hope they change.
There's nothing wrong with Brady fighting.Yeah seeing people say these signing are going to prevent Brady from “having” to fight is never not going to be funny. Like he is forced to do it and doesn’t enjoy backing up his teammates. Its part of his game to play on the edge and it always will be.
If we wanted to have a cutesy ballerina as captain that doesn’t get his hands dirty, we probably shouldn’t have drafted the guy who was quite literally known for this coming out.
Going back to MacEwen, put me in the camp saying there is zero reason to give waiver fodder more than one year deals, same with Del Zotto a few years ago but whatever. Just put him in the minors and forget about him if anything. If meathead DJ plays him or Imama regularly then we obviously have a problem
I don't even know what you are trying to say. That you do a lot
There's nothing wrong with Brady fighting.
I just don't want him fighting players like Reaves, Xhekaj, Lucic, etc. which are recent additions to our division. I also don't think it's fair to dump all of that on a kid like Kastelic who has potential to be a decent 3rd liner at some point in the future.

Exactly, because Watson was around to take on (and lose) these fights.Brady didn't fight any of those types of guys last season
Or we could just decline the offer to fight a plug for no reason.Exactly, because Watson was around to take on (and lose) these fights.
Now we need someone else in his place.
But what if there is a reason? Then what?Or we could just decline the offer to fight a plug for no reason.

Mark Kastelic and if things escalate callBut what if there is a reason? Then what?
I think we are already plenty tough and need secondary scoring big time instead we are signing the opposite type players to accomplish that so farI don't think you get how hockey players, or teams, are wired.
Everybody wants a Matt Carkner on their team, even if they're only there to fight "plugs".

Up Boko for the next game.

If you are telling me Zac will do what Carkner did to the Rangers if someone touches Stutzle, then sure, I like him already. But every time something like Cooke or Dell happens, nothing comes of it. Our guy goes up to them and asks to fight; they decline, and that's it. So I don't really see the need for a 4th line enforcer unless they can actually play hockey.I don't think you get how hockey players, or teams, are wired.

I rather not waste a roster spot on someone that’s clearly not needed in my mind, especially after the Boko signing.Signing MacEwen for 775k doesn't not in any way prevent us from getting "secondary scoring". You're not getting "secondary scoring" for that amount. You're getting Dylan Gambrell.
I'd much rather have MacEwen.
The return, and cap space opened up, from Debrincat will need to get us secondary scoring.
Names please! But they have to be at the league minimum.I only speak for myself, but personally, I would prefer it if they signed good players to play on the team.

We're trading DeBrincat, once that happens we'll actually know how much we can afford to spend on depth forwards, its quite possible we have room to upgrade over McEwen,Names please! But they have to be at the league minimum.
Why do they have to be a league min? Can't I use cap space?Names please! But they have to be at the league minimum.
There isn’t anyWhy do they have to be a league min? Can't I use cap space?
We’ll see but would it really surprise you if we dress both Zach and Boko during the season especially after Dorion’s comments?McEwen getting signed just means Imama is unlikely to be on the roster, it's really a non factor. 3 years is odd, but again, it's at a league min for a 12/13th forward, so the impact is pretty much nothing.
My issue is I'd rather someone better once cap space opens up, but if we're willing to waive him and send him down that's not an issue.
