Honestly it's not out of the realm of reason that this trade doesn't blow up in Florida's face long-term.

At the surface it seems great to have that ridiculous top 9 and both Tkachuks on the same team but who knows what having both Brady and Matthew on a team for prolonged periods of time will have on the culture.

Will they try to take over the room from Barkov?

Will Brady accept being "lil bro" on his new team

Will Brady and Matthew actually be able to handle conflict together over a long period of time?

It is fathomable this could have a potential negative impact on the Panthers culture long-term but only time will tell

I don't think Tippett's NTC kicks in until the summer, so we might be safe there.

I could see Spence going back to Philly in that deal as well as a replacement RD.

Tippett is probably worth a mid-1st on his own as a PWF with 27/28/20/28 goals over his last 4 seasons, and they'll probably want a 1st for Ristolainen too, so I wouldn't be surprised if we added to get those two, even if I'd absolutely hate it.
Not sure Phile wants both Spence and Drysdale on their right side but they might

He's never been desperate before. Generally he's been very methodical; everything unfolded slowly and on his terms.

This situation has put him outside of his comfort zone and there is an opportunity to make some very bad decisions. But I won't prejudge. I expect to hate what happens over the next few days, but I'm open to being pleasantly surprised.

I haven’t asked/pressed in all honesty.
They are insanely busy at this time of year getting ready for the draft, and the Tkachuk deal just means more and more work.

I’ll likely have some more details on Friday, but didn’t want to pester.
are you srs an insider bro or r u larping

Staios mentioned here that guys like Zetterlund and Foegele can move up the lineup and they played lower due to our depth last year. So maybe they are looking at adding just one forward and one dman, plus a backup goalie. Or he’s lying, always an option of course.

He's not wrong to say those guys can move up and played lower due to our depth.

That said, it's also obviously not ideal, since it's unlikely we'll get a player as good as Brady as that one forward.

People are viewing this trade as if Brady has some long-term contract ready to go. Unless I'm missing some reports from Florida media, I haven't seen any mention about his next contract and what the plan is there. He may play next season and decide that he isn't actually interested in playing with his brother/in Florida long term. If that happens, then Florida traded a hefty package for 1-2 seasons of Brady.

Would love for some of this to unfold. The rest of the team to get quite sick of the tkachuk cabal antics or maybe zito not appreciating f***in fat f*** Walt giving his unsolicited opinion on everything panthers like he’s some kinda Busch lite consigliere.

Since we have picks now, could Whitecloud be a target? Maybe not with the picks this year, but future picks.

We can afford to outbid any team for Tuch now, and he's (very marginally) from the "area", so maybe that's where Staios is aiming. He would essentially replace Brady's production. But American players apparently hiss and melt like vampires when they step across the Canadian border now, so probably not.

He probably gets 10M+ from some team in the U.S.

Would we go as high as 12M to make it worth his while?

It sounds crazy in a vacuum, but if you think about it, which option would you prefer:

Tuch @ 12M x 7YRs + 9th OVR + 25th OVR + future 1st + 2nd

or

Tkachuk @ 8.2M x 2YRs, 14M x 8YRs afterwards

Is it crazy to prefer the former?

Ok, some potential targets:

McTavish, local, still has unrealized potential, not my ideal target unless the cost is low

Lafreniere, semi local, some potential to break out, but good floor

Michkov, boom or bust (well not bust but you know what I mean).

Marchenko, no idea why he's be available but his name has come up

Dorofeyev, VGK might be vulnerable to an offersheet, threat might force a trade

Knies, good term, power fwd. Don't like dealing with Toronto though

I’d prefer Tuch and the picks, over Robertson and giving the picks or equivalent back.
Brady would be $xx times 7 years, as that changes in September.

Although I don't want to pay Tuch $12 million, I'd rather have him at $12 million + all those picks than Tkachuk. Some of those picks can provide some much needed ELC production on this team.
