I wonder what his definition of contending scenario is.

Either way, this is like the actual realistic scenario is for adding a forward.

Most of the stuff in this thread is a pipe dream.
DeBrusk is a fine addition, he's not going to cost 9oa, likely not a first at all.

As an aside, DeBrusk being an excellent net front guy on the pp makes more sense with Tkachuk gone.

We cannot trade for EK. It would be piss poor asset management unless its a one for one swap with Spence, and even then, keep Spence because he'll be here longer than EK.

We cannot give Dubas any capital to keep the Pens competitive. Best case is to let EK stay there and let some other team overpay for him at the deadline if the Pens are out of it. He just had a very good season, he'll cost us. Just sign him in FA next year.

Are you getting any info?

I am curious to know if the plan is to flip the assets for a star player or if the plan would be to bring in a few solid players

It is a major difference to target a guy like Robertson vs McTavish
I haven’t asked/pressed in all honesty.
They are insanely busy at this time of year getting ready for the draft, and the Tkachuk deal just means more and more work.

I’ll likely have some more details on Friday, but didn’t want to pester.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind it. You’re most likely not going to get anything significant on the UFA market.
Staios did say opening up 8mil with the Brady trade does change things wrt UFA, opens up some possibilities.

Doubt that means Tuch, so I'm really not sure who we'd go after.

Once he hears about how we're the best ever team to get swept and never hold a lead in a playoff series he won't be able to contain his excitement.

Worstword Ho!

Vancouver seems to be a realistic dance partner. Offer Vancouver Zetterlund for DeBrusk. Vancouver will do it because Zetterlund is cheaper and can still be extended as a stop gap for their rebuild. DeBrusk gets us 40-50 points and a big body in the top 6. If Zetterlund and Tampa's 1st (or whomever we take at 32) gets us Boeser, i can live with that. We get a 50-60 point winger. He's slow af, but won't break the bank and leaves us with cap room for even more moves. Heck, I'd even consider EP40 if the price is low enough. He's statistically likely to rebound, would be a winger for us, has excelled under Green in the past as well. Vancouver has no need to trade him, but Aqualini is cheap af and would want to.

Let's oversheet Robertson for 4 first round picks.......nah. Throw a bunch at Edmonton and get Drai. If people are gonna be dumb, I wanna play too.

Given this is an entertainment industry, I want Staios to do what entertains me the most.

Throwing the bag at Robertson to convince him to be here is an example of something that would be extremely entertaining to me as a fan. Whether it's a sign and trade, or an offer sheet.

I would say though that most of what Staios has done so far has been largely unexpected, so I'm expecting him to do something I wouldn't expect, like packaging up to get higher in this years draft, or finding a player he can shake loose that isn't on anyone's radar.

I think the call he got in the middle of his presser was fascinating. Things are in motion. Right now, I am way more entertained than I was two days ago. Potential is far more interesting than worrying anymore about what Baby Tkachuk will or won't do.

Staios mentioned here that guys like Zetterlund and Foegele can move up the lineup and they played lower due to our depth last year. So maybe they are looking at adding just one forward and one dman, plus a backup goalie. Or he’s lying, always an option of course.

This is the fastest pivot to 'the solutions might have to come from within' in Senators history!

Drai has an NMC but boy would that make a splash.

I'm here to be entertained. That would be hilariously entertaining, realistic or not
Why the fck would he want to stay with Bowman's Tire Fire? NMC means he can demand a trade to Ottawa.

I don't get why there's so much gloom and doom about Staios making trades. Or all these trade proposals that involved Staios getting fleeced. Outside of the Chychrun trade has there been one he's made that people hated right away?

I haven't been this confident with a Sens GM making trades since Marshall Johnston.
I definitely have way more faith in Staois, but making deals out of desperation (trying to replace Brady and staying competitive) usually is not a good way to make a deal.

I just hope we don’t overpay for the players we targeting or we don’t overpay for some plan B guys. Better to use the draft picks and retool on the fly.

Got to believe in Staois though!

Since the NHL doesn't give a shit about tampering, Tim, get on the god damned phone bro! His agent even reps a Sens player (Jackson Parons? I have no idea who the f*** that is). Work it bitches!

He's never been desperate before. Generally he's been very methodical; everything unfolded slowly and on his terms.

This situation has put him outside of his comfort zone and there is an opportunity to make some very bad decisions. But I won't prejudge. I expect to hate what happens over the next few days, but I'm open to being pleasantly surprised.

That Staios is adamant that they team will not be taking a step back is a great sign. He's not Dorion. He wouldn't be saying this multiple times if he wasn't very confident that he can improve the current roster.
The man denied a call in the middle of a presser. He's working it

Take everything that Bruce says with a grain of salt.

I know for a fact, the team doesn’t trust him with anything of consequence.

Him breaking the Zetterlund trade, was the office throwing him a bone.

He could be getting info from outside the team, but he is barely tolerated since Eugene died.
I could barely tolerate him long before that. It is obvious by the way he operates he's at the tail end of the crums
