I actually think it’s quite reasonable for that to be Kakko’s trajectory. But Nichuschkin became that at 26. By the time Kakko hits 26, Panarin is gone and Zibanejad and Kreider are in wheelchairs.

But that also means the team could lock him in to a good deal. Blake Wheeler is another example of a big guy who took a bit of time to marinate.

You have to wonder were Strome will end up? Does a team like Seattle want to commit long term, when they have Gourde + Benniers and Wright coming up in the near future.

So...as we know, Brooks has always been a sounding board for the Rangers, his latest article about NY looking for a third team to be involved in a Kadri deal is really really intriguing.

I saw the Ducks mentioned. Get a fat contract, play second fiddle to Zegras and enjoy the sun. Could be worse.

Nashville was also a rumored landing spot for Copp, now that hes in Detroit, maybe they pivot to Strome

anyways, yeah I think the if the Rangers could get a young talented center they could lock up to a good deal by trading kakko it's a fine move to make, but for now I think just calm down and look at the environment he's had to break into the NHL in and have some pateience

Islanders when they lose out on everyone else. Lou will bring in all the Stromes. And they'll combine for 5 goals every damn time we play them because that's what happens to the Rangers. lol

My issue is with the system, broadly. It’s bizarre.

How is it bizarre? Its a hard cap. Its actually not that hard to figure out.

nBAs system is bizarre with all the exceptions. Nfls is bizarre with restructuring and cuts. NHL is fine. MLBs is system is bizarre in that most teams will never be competitive because they cant afford it.

To me the NhLs makes the most sense. Here is a cap. Stay under it. The only two tweaks to make it perfect would be to use actual salary instead of AAV so teams can structure their contracts to keep good teams together. Or have a one person draft pick exepmtion. Ie one player your team drafted does not count against the cap.

Otherwise i love the nhl cap.

Agree. I don't want to trade Kakko at all, but if he were to get traded, a player like PLD should be it. Agree on the environment thing too. On most teams that have a 2 and 1 overall pick back to back, those players are playing top PP minutes and top line. Here, they've been buried and haven't had any significant PP time at all. That effects development and production in a big way.

Apparently NJD is getting him. We’ll see. I can’t wait to watch that franchise fail. Every one of their “leaders” are kids or have kid mentalities. I mean you can’t tell me a core of

Johnny Gaudreau, the Hughes bros, Dougie Hamilton, along with a 22 year old captain will succeed. That’s a core that’s destined for solid regular seasons but a perennial first round exit
Kid mentalities?

How many centers would you want over Hughes going forward? There aren't many.

No team is a perennial 1st-round exit.

We have no idea how the rest of the Devils will develop or whom they'll add.

If you told me we would leave this FA period sans Copp/Strome and with Trocheck, a re-signed Motte and maybe Pitlick/Heinan/Marchment or Othmann/Cuylle as the 3rd LW, I'd be very happy. The UFA 3rd LW options obviously coincide with sending Nemeth down or another move at the NHL level.

Krieder - Zibanejad - Laf
Panarin - Trocheck - Kakko
Pitlick/Othmann - Fil - Blais/Krav
Hunt/Motte - Barclay - Motte/Blais

That team is better than last years. I think signing one of Pitlick/Heinan/Marchment as security/depth would be a phenomenal move. Injuries will happen and if one of Cuylle or Othmann are ready, the UFA should not block them from playing as Hunt/Reeves are expendable as a scratch etc.

That level of compete on the second line forechecking and puck possession wise is dreamy.

If Fil can win the spot over Trocheck, by all means, great! Trocheck being a 3C is phenomenal depth. Trocheck is deployable in every aspect of the game as well, wins faceoffs, very good defensively and can also play at a high offensive clip. Really if reasonably priced its a no-brainer.

Vince calling Trocheck a distinct possibility but only if they can get the AAV in the low 5s

A team with Gaudreau, Hamilton, and the Hughes brothers as offensive and locker room leaders isn’t going anywhere in the playoffs. Book it

Butter soft team. They are cruising for a Tom Wilson ragdolling of little Jackie. If I were them I would go all out for Deslauriers. He is going to replace Reaves as the alpha dog soon.

Honestly if they get him, that team worries me. They already kind of do. They have a lot up front. If their D develops we are in for years of tough competition from them.
