This team is going to be very very good. I honestly feel like Drury nailed it. I mean trocheck Halak and carpenter is just perfectly done for what we needed.

And I truly believe Patrick Kane may join it at the deadline.

I like both guys, but one will be a lot more expensive. People like Motte because he was used properly and hate Hunt because they had to watch him on the second line.

People complaining about this team compared to last years... We had Goodrow and Hunt in the middle6 last year. They are now most likely on the 4th line. We had Greg McKegg playing.... Greg McKegg.

We have kids like Cuylle ready to make the jump. Another year of growth for Laffy, Kakko, Kravtsov etc

Reaves had the third-most hits *in the league* last season, is very well-liked in the locker room, and is probably the only reason Panarin isn’t in a full body cast.

It’s ok to want more from him than what he’s doing. I do. But he’s not retiring. He’s worth more to this team than most of the names people here want to bump him for.

Chytil isn't going to be getting many defensive zone draws or draws on the PK so its not really necessary.

There is NOTHING wrong with putting players in positions where they're overqualified. This is how you create mismatches. One of the reasons why I'm not overly broken up with Chytil as 3C.

Is it good enough to beat Tampa, Colorado, Edmonton, Florida? I'm not so sure. It's like moneyball centers. Not one, except for Zibanejad, stack up against other top teams' centers. They're still going to play match up against Zibanejad. And we saw what happened when they do that, our offense gets completely shut down. I don't think Trocheck beats that situation for us. If we had PLD then teams are trying to shut down two 70+ point centers with size.

Florida or Edmonton lol? We’d be the clear favorite in either series. Neither team’s goalie can stop a beach ball. Tampa clearly got worse as well. Colorado is still the favorite even if Kadri leaves though

The thing with Motte was the skating. Hunt is close skating wise. I'm not sure about Blais coming off an ACL tear. He does have more size, which is nice.

Either way, they've cleared the way for the bottom 6 to not need Reaves in every game.

If you want to shuffle things up, Goodrow could 3LW and move Blais down to the 4th line, shift Carpenter to the middle.

Vince Mercagliano also mentioned that Trivigno really stands out in camp based on his speed. Give him 2 months in Hartford and he might be the internal Motte replacement in that regard.

Playoffs sure , regular season i some see Goodrow on the 4th line

This is the thing that drives me nuts about charts. Is Hunt as good a skater as Motte? Can he PK like Motte? Is he a short handed threat like Motte?

No. No. And No.

That being said, unless Reaves or someone else gets shipped out there’s little danger that we need to worry about Motte being a NYR.

The salary cap means no Motte.

Really Ryan Reaves means no Motte if we want to be honest about it.

real. If you want to retain Motte say goodbye to Reaves. But I don't think it's necessary at this point.

Signing motte now would be a big mistake. Like the player but we got him for a 4th at the deadline, we can find another Motte.

The only thing left to do is bridge Kakko and be opportunistic if a trade for a guy who can put us over the top materializes over the summer. We still have a ton of assets.

That being said, Kane is coming at the deadline, prepare yourselves accordingly
