Cn we all pitch in to purchase this site and move it to more reliable servers? I know some of you guys must have well paying jobs.
Well start dreaming about turning Kreider and Namestnikov into a #2 center. When the off season started, I expected the Rangers to get Adam Fox. I had my fingers crossed that they would advance through the lottery and I hoped they would be able to get either Jacob Trouba or Artemi Panarin. Not both, that’s too much to hope for.
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect all of these things to happen.
This is so damn exciting!
Gotta be bad to get Byfield ("Be Bad for Byfield" has a nice ring to it), but I don't think we will be bad enough with Panarin and Trouba.Get me some Byfield at the 2020 draft. Solves everything. But —- how?
Panarin Mika Kakko
Kreider Chytil Kravtsov
Lemieux Howden Strome
Mckegg Lias Fast
Nieves
Definitely more balanced.
Gotta find a takers for Buchy and Namestnikov and either trade or buyout one of shattenkirk or Smith at the least.
Don’t know if I necessarily agree with it but I could see it. Especially if they don’t feel Lias Andersson is a top 6 player.
I think maybe, outside of the speed game, Anderson could develop into Kreider type player in the top 6.
You mean outside of the speed size strength power game?
... solves it (using RBs numbers for RFAs). Not sure that is the way they go. But the least painful scenario IMO. Then maybe deal Kreider at the TDL maximizing the return (retaining salary), maybe also packaging him with some of our excess pipeline talent to get a good young center in the process?
- B Smith plus something small outside the roster to OTT for M Gaborik (LTIR)
- Names (with a million retained) for a mid level pick and a reclamation player for Hartford
The Rangers have a cap crunch. Play around with the Armchair GM feature at Capfriendly.
Pay Trouba.
Sign Buchnevich. Bridge deal. ~$3.5M.
Lemieux plays at his QO offer. $832,500.
DeAngelo also has a $832,500 QO. Do the Rangers want to bridge deal him? Two years. About $2.25M per.
Leave space to operate the club during the season.
Leave room for the entry level performance bonuses. Kakko & Kravtsov might be able to hit a few bonuses.
It may come down to Buch vs Kreider for management. Curious how this goes. Listening to Gorton talk about the CK meetings doesn’t sound like they’re going anywhere with him. So my guess is he’s dealt but I can very much see why we may want a guy like him in this top 6
Been an observer here for years and haven’t really ever felt the need to post. But just a few thoughts....
Why embarrass yourself...
Carpinello was one of those guys clamoring for an accelerated rebuild. Once he gets his shiny new toy, tons of material for stories and hits, he wants tap the brakes. We just committed a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd, plus over $20m to 3 additions. We killed all that cap space during an unprecedented summer of bargain veterans. Now he wants to pause and evaluate.
I'm here for the ride. I had my wishes and it went another route. Fine. Now I watch and speculate how they address the team with the new moves. I'm not a guy that constantly dredges up the past.
But they can't just sit back and hope things fall into place after this summer. We probably dug ourselves out of a bottom 5 finish and a great chance of a top 6 center at the draft. Kreider's contract doesn't have brakes to tap. What is the point of aggressive moves if we just wait for the firm of Lundqvist, Shattenkirk, Smith and Staal to move on?
Per the Athletic - Grading Free Agency and the Off-season.
New York Rangers: A-plus
In: John Davidson (President), Artemi Panarin, Kaapo Kakko, Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba
Out: Jimmy Vesey, Neal Pionk
Guess the rebuild is over. The Rangers, already buoyant with the addition of the dynamic Kaapo Kakko, and adding top-four defensemen Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba, nabbed the highest-profile forward on the free-agent market in Artemi Panarin. Will they ultimately regret the whopper seven-year deal with the $11.6 million annual cap hit? Maybe. But he instantly vaults the Rangers back into contender status, especially with the other additions, including Vitali Kravtsov, the ninth overall pick in 2018. The fact the Rangers stole Panarin from the Islanders just adds to the sweetness for a team that has very quickly gone from retooling to contender status. At least on paper. Now all sophomore coach David Quinn has to do is to make it happen on the ice.
Agree, I’m a line balance advocate, if Chytil becomes our 2C with say Krat, I’d try Lemmy on the LWI kind of agree with what Valiquette and Brooks are saying, outside of the weird Euro thing. Assuming they trade Kreider, your top 6 next season is probably some combination of Panarin, Zib, Buch, Kakko, Kravtsov & Chytil - they're all similar kind of players (outside of maybe Kakko) to varying degrees. One dimensional. Who's the guy that's gonna go retrieve pucks, move defenseman back, get to the dirty parts of the ice to score goals (especially in the playoffs), screen the goalie? I'd love to see a bit of variety in the top 6, find a guy to compliment the more skillful and creative players. Not saying it's Kreider, but maybe it's a guy you trade him for or maybe Baron becomes that player in a few years.
