Who the heck else can Toronto move st this point to alleviate their cap concerns? They’ve officially moved Marleau, Kadri, Brown AND Zaitsev. That’s literally everyone that has been rumored to be traded to clear cap space up to this point but their still not able to fit everyone.

For this season probably BUT he got rid of a serious long term horrible contract in Zaitsev. Also Kadri who is pretty much 3rd center and has been an issue the last two playoffs with his discipline problems. Ceci is only one year and he could get rid of Barrie I'm sure for a first plus (albeit that doesn't help them next year).

They didn't bring in a single defender who can defend. Barrie is an awesome offensive D but can't play in his own end. Ceci sucks at everything.

They added another small skill forward in Kerfoot. That team is going to get dummied by a ton of teams.

Well, there's another team taken off of Shatt's possible trade-destination

I believe he is blocking Canadian teams. In other words, Barrie is no longer an option to his available spots.

With Girard and Makar, there really wasn't any place for Barrie. I think it's a good trade for both teams. I think Kadri is better than Kerfoot. He gets the tough matchups, he's got bite to his game.

Colorado was worried about expansion slots. Keep Barrie, extend and you have 4 d to protect since they played Makar in the playoffs.

Shattenkirk will be UFA and not required for protection for those playing at home.

They still lose against boston/Tampa but IMO they still did well getting rid of money without being punished enough.
Barrie is a big improvement over Zaitev although I know that is not saying a lot (and they got rid of Zaitsev contract while Barrie 1/2 contract is not an issue)

Conor Timmins didn't even play last year and has never played a professionally game I highly doubt he is ready to slide right onto their defense.

He was an absolute stud for Canada as a junior and he is going to get a shot. They'll get someone that profiles as a 3rd line defense, but Timmins is their guy. If he wasn't hurt last year, a lot of people believed he was making their defense.

It'll only be a matter of time before he is there

Ceci already agreed to get, I believe $4.5m before the trade occurred.

For a year. Because it was his QO, but the fact that it hasn’t happened yet makes me wonder if they’re negotiating a multi-year deal for less dollars per year.

As I mentioned earlier, that’s $11m not accounting for Horton going to LTIR and with 20 skaters signed not including the 3 RFA. The true number is more like $18m.
