Kerfoot put up almost as many points as Kadri did last year. I guess the theory is that that’s just because Kadri was playing behind Matthews and Tavares... but still.

With Girard and Makar, there really wasn't any place for Barrie. I think it's a good trade for both teams. I think Kadri is better than Kerfoot. He gets the tough matchups, he's got bite to his game.

Avs get their 2C. Kadri was playing down on the Leafs.

Still think Kreider ends up there. They have to make a push while MacKinnon is cheap.

Colorado has so much cap space we need to get them to take salary from us.

Wonder if with Barrie gone and Shattenkirk playing there before we could get them to take him even if at 50%. He plays a similar role to Barrie. Obviously Makar is going to big the main beneficiary but Shattenkirk can come in as a veteran presence/PP guy there as well.

They have more like $18m in space. The $11m cap friendly is reporting doesn’t account for Horton on IR and has 12 forwards and 8 D with contracts on the roster. So you figure 3 skaters are going to the minors for a total of $1.5-2m plus $5.3m for Horton is around $7m that CF isn’t accounting for.

Yea but their other guys will all be inexpensive. They'll have 10-12M remaining. I figure 9-10M for Rantanen and then maybe 7 total for Burakovsky/Compher/Zadorov.

Connor Timmins is a big reason that this move can be made. Makar is the biggest, but Timmins will slide onto their defense this season and improve their team defensively.

f***ing leafs have gotten rid of tons of money the last little bit. Marleau, Zaitsev, kadri (not a camp dump but still). The league has really given them an easy out IMO.

But didn't they need a competent RHD? Plus they need to win now I would think and beating the Bruins/TB isn't gonna be easy next year.

Conor Timmins didn't even play last year and has never played a professionally game I highly doubt he is ready to slide right onto their defense.

He did a terrible job but Marleau and Zaitsev gone with honestly not much pain being inflicted on them.
