Speaking of Aho and Carolina, I was watching some TSN video last week and I think it was Bob McKenzie who outlined a scenario where a team gets Aho to sign an offer sheet with terms that make it financially prohibitive for Carolina to match. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it was something like make the first year $12-million in salary with a $1-million signing bonus. Then on the second year, make the salary only $1-million but have a $12-million signing bonus. So if they were to match, in the first year from July 2019 to July 2020 Carolina has to pay him $25-million. And they speculated that that amount is close to what their yearly gate receipts are (don't think it included playoffs though).

Last week Brooks wrote Kreider, Buchnevich, Vesey, Shattenkirk and Smith are on the endangered species list. Vesey is gone. Would it be a big surprise if more than just Kreider is moved this month? Second buyout window for one of the D.

Seeing the Panarin deal, I don't see how someone like Smith or Shattenkirk aren't bought out. Gorton has done a very good job of back-filling the young defensemen and there are 4 kids who should be pushing for spots this season.

helps for sure. Wonder why Zucc didn't take a little less to play in Dallas? I'm sure they would have given him 5-5.25 range
Extra year in Minnesota. Minnesota also have a lot of people of norwegian descent. Could be a small factor in why The Wild wanted him.

The rebuild is over. And this one will last a lifetime.

With all respect... this sentiment is being misstated all over the place. The rebuild is NOT over... plenty of lesser talents to replace yet with younger stronger talents at the NHL level, and no way all these prospects we are all drooling over meet expectations. THAT said... the rebuild process as of today has absolutely crested. Another 2-3 years ahead of tweaking, adding by subtracting, etc., and moving a piece or two for futures. Easy, fellas. MAYBE playoffs this year, real contention further out.

They better learn how to protect this guy on his shifts. Not interested in seeing him repeatedly concussed.

If Carolina knows it’s only a matter of time before a ridiculous offer sheet is coming:

I would probably do Aho for Kreider, Buch, Chytil and our 1st next season if we make the POs, otherwise our 2nd.

Aho is that good.

Can’t imagine the team is interested in tying up long term in Kreider after just signing Panarin

NHL network keeps talking about the team needing to find a 2C but there are all these young guys gunning for spots

One cup in 80 years and I need to “look around”

Sometimes humor is based on reality

We’ve been failing to win a cup under the league’s salary cap structure for 80 years?

Tell me, what else happens in 2084?

So frustrating to really think the Rangers had changed. Also so stupid of me to ever believe a new GM would be able to restrain himself.

Panarin is a great player. But this is just a poorly timed move that could really **** us down the line.

Signing big FAs has never won us diddly. Nor other teams around the league.

Same old Rangers.
Go root for the islanders

A few days ago, $11 million was too much. Now $11.6 million is a bargain. Ridiculous.
Based on the market, yes.
Their were only 3 teams supposedly in it. And then col/cbj both came in with 12-13 mil offers

In relation to the market, it is a slight bargain
