I never bought into Panarin absolutely breaking down or holding up because of age/NHL tenure, but where is this time machine he used to have the body of a 24 year old because he only played 4 NHL seasons? Did he take a 4 year sabbatical? I get that he hasnt had NHL bodies checking him but that's not the only wear and tear. Strange argument.

It’s a shame if we can’t keep Kreider but he’s definitely going to get a healthy pay raise next summer

Alright so what number does AP wear for us?

#72 in Chicago - taken by Chytil, doubt he asks Filip for it. Also wore #72 in KHL.
#9 in Columbus - obviously can't take that one.

Wore #27 for Russian national team in 2016. My bet is on #27 then.
#81

Gaborik fell apart. It could happen again, but that was unusual. Gaborik had already been around for 8 seasons. Panarin only has 4.

Anything can backfire, but I also think Panarin is a better player.

In a lot of Columbus's playoff games, I thought he was the best player on the ice for either team.

The question was when was the last time we signed a 27year old 1st line forward and I responded with the exact last time it happened. Isn’t even debatable Gaborik was an elite goal scorer when we signed him with an injury history.

On NHL radio this morning they spoke about him being one of the most physically fit individuals in the NHL. He is a fitness freak.

We will be lucky to get a taker for Names. Smith and Shatty's money are here to stay unfortunately. Thank goodness its only two more years for both of them. Not sure how i feel about giving 11.5 to one player but in two years Hank, Shatty, Smith, Staal money all gone. Thats what over 20 million gone?

Well this nonsense that we were going to find something comparable to Panarin two years from now---sure---somehow somebody might pop up but there's no one near his level on schedule for that right now so there's not likely to be someone then. As well we've $26 mil coming off the books that year with Kakko, Kravtsov still one year of ELC left and we have a number of guys who have yet to even start their ELC's. The cap is manageable now and I'm not going to lose sleep over Vesey in Buffalo or Kreider and/or other 3rd liners getting moved to make it work. So the way I see it we've likely signed the best UFA forward not only this year but the next two years as well. He didn't come cheap--that's for sure.

Yea, because bringing in a 22 year old center is really comparable to a soon to be 28 year old winger.

Come on.

You can argue for wanting Panarin, but those of us who didn't want him had a very strong case for why it was the wrong signing at the wrong time.
I understand your point of view but you have to realize we do have a lot of cap relief in the next two or three years.

I'd be surprised if the Rangers don't do what Nashville did with Colin Wilson a couple years ago. Strictly a cap move. Someone will gladly take Names for a 3rd rounder and tbh I'd have no issue with that. Also, if they can get kreider on a few year deal at 5 I'd have no issue keeping him or moving on, Girardis buyout penalty is 2.5 million less next year and after the next season 4 guys contracts are up and it adds up to ~25 mil, that's plenty to go around

They can't afford them both. Both are LW's

LMFAO! We're literally back to being cap-strapped ... this is madness. We have 8.6M in cap space WITHOUT Trouba signed ... yup.

Not signed either atm: DeAngelo, Buch and Lemieux.

Ok. This madness. Can't wait to see what the f*** will happen here.

This is what I’m hoping for. Order will be placed immediately

We didn’t even keep it to six years. Stupid.

And my point is, why bring up a name we had no shot at signing.

If the Rangers were in on Tavares, were would have been looking at 13+ per year.

Had Tavares not taken less to sign with Toronto, hes EASILY getting 12++ from any number of suitors last season.

Mentioning JT as it pertains to Panarin is silly
U do t feel it’s relevant to measure, in a cap league, two UFA signings one year apart, for two teams who went (are) through rebuilds singing expensive players who don’t fill positions of biggest need to massive salary/term?
