so uh, cool tournament eh?
Sort of yes and sort of no. When it's 4 teams, it's very anticlimactic, I think most wish it would be a US vs Canada best of 7.

I still think it's laughable that Cassidy and Deboer had issues with Logan Thompson so they picked inferior goalies vs picking the players that would make this easier for them. I would have dumped those coaches and chosen the goalie, if you're a coach and you let personal bs interfere with winning, you're a twat.

Thank god he’s the only guy that could replace mcavoy. Now gotta hope the tkachuk’s and whoever else is fine.
If they don't have 6 defensemen, Hughes can join, currently they have 6, so that isn't going to happen unless Team USA suddenly fakes an injury to a defenseman tomorrow.

The only reason Canada was allowed to add Harley was because Makar was sick and with Theodore hurt it meant Sanheim was dressed as the 6th, but then Cale Makar was out with an illness and wasn't able to play, so they were allowed to add Harley to give Canada 6D. As far I know, the US has their 6.

U.S. defenseman Charlie McAvoy will miss Thursday's championship game against Canada - and reportedly considered week-to-week. However, the Americans still have six defenseman available and cannot add Hughes to the roster unless another blue-liner drops out.

Faber, Fox, Hanifin, Slavin, Werenski, and Sanderson.

Expectations were low but it’s great

Timing right after the SB is great too. Finland-USA was on every single TV at my neighborhood bar, which is a super popular social spot - bierhall with a good TV set up. Not some dive sports bar. And that was before Saturdays fireworks.

All my casual friends who more just sports fans are into it and we are meeting up at bars for the games.

Think ultimately this is going so well. Now in a year you’ll get even more Olympic hype from casual fans after a taste of best on best- and after that tourney I think if the USA makes a deep run again you’ll have generated a lot more general interest in the sport.

Defense wins championships

Not necessarily- these are two different players that happen to play the same position.
Makar controls and settles things down on the back end. From carrying or starting the breakout, he's so damn good.

McAvoy is decent enough offensively, but not at Makar's level. He's been really good though at being physical and denying entries, being positionally sound, etc.

They both do different things that are critical for their respective things.
