MacKinnon and Makar already named to Canada. Toews expected to be added today.

Nobody on USA.

Nobody on Sweden.

Let's be honest here, Toews shouldn't be there. Many better Canadian dmen won't make the cut.

He's strictly there because he's still living on his 2022 reputation and he's Makar's defense partner.

Landy will make team Sweden.

Oh wait…..

If Mitts didn’t cool down, he’d make team USA for sure. He was producing at PPG pace, but significantly cooled down so it will probably hurt his chances

Even if he stayed at PPG I can't imagine he got any consideration. There simply are too many centers. AM34, Hughes, Eichel, Miller, Larkin were locks before the season started, and Mitts can't seamlessly shift to a wing role like Trocheck and Guentzel.

Speaking of which, while I'm not fully up on where players are slotting these days, it doesn't seem like a single pure RW is on the team. Hope that doesn't bite them.

That’s not an issue. Often in tournaments like this, centers play wing because there are too many of them. Maybe someone like Larkin or JT Miller would move to wing

I thought they'd pick Caufield over Kreider.

A few surprises in there!

This was actually my predicted team other than 4 changes.

I had picked Thompson over Montembeault in G, Dobson over Parayko at D, and Scheifele+Thomas over Cirelli+Jarvis.

It’s a good team. Goaltending was always going to be the question. Defense is big and hard to play against with some strong puck movers. It’s a much more balanced D than USA who are mostly all offensive defensemen. Canada’s top end talent at forward is the best in the world and the bottom 6 are going to be very difficult to play against.

Reinhart - McDavid - Marner
Marchand - Crosby - MacKinnon
Hagel - Point - Konecny
Bennett - Cirelli - Stone
Jarvis

Toews - Makar
Morrissey - Parayko
Theodore - Pietrangelo
Sanheim

Binnington
Hill
Montembeault

Mittelstadt was never in consideration for the roster.

Avs bias aside, there’s many, many better players for the roster over him.

You can tell that they tried to build a balanced team instead of going with the best players. However, it's obvious that Hagel and Cirelli are there because of Cooper.

We'll see if it pays off, but like I said on paper that's the US team tournament to lose. We have the best 3 players and they have the best everything else, including size and grit.

How would our 2C make a team anyways? The whole point of this is to have almost nothing but 1s playing.

Idk might be some bias there, but Hagels been unreal since he joined Tampa. He's the perfect complimentary player to high end/elite centers.

That second line is going to be one of my all-time favorite lines.

Hope my Candian friends don't mind, but I'm cheering for Team Canada. Just no way I can cheer against MacKinnon and Makar. Toews...maybe (just kidding).
