What is the penalty if a player refuses to participate? I remember Ovie refused to participate and as I can remember he was suspended from playing 1 game. Why risk more injuries as we already have multiple players out of lineup.

While this tournament has no where near the clout of an Olympics with a full blown tournament, there is no way you could keep these players off the ice for this.

This is legit the first time Nathan MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby will get to play together. You think either are going to say, "Naw... I'm good. Gonna stay home, eat my Wheaties and rest up for the final grind."

I think you are confusing Ovie refusing to report to the All-Star game. I don't think a guy would be suspended for skipping, I just don't believe any player would skip this one.

Mack can use this time to sweet talk Crosby into coming to the Avs

Let's be honest here, Toews shouldn't be there. Many better Canadian dmen won't make the cut.

He's strictly there because he's still living on his 2022 reputation and he's Makar's defense partner.
the US blueline is far superior

Morrissey, Theodore, and Sanheim are the other LHD named to the team. Canada always runs LH-RH.

Which Canadian LHD would you have picked in his place?
Girard

Go Team Fin!!

Our centers are really solid and the top forwards are a good mix with complimentary depth. Our D is of course something to wish more for but Saros and UPL can be walls.

I still laughed when I saw "Världens bästa" Erik Karlsson on Team Swe.

Cheering for Fin but will be watching that Team Canada 2nd line closely and pretty excited for the whole thing while looking forward to the Olympics. Best on best! It's been a while man! Take this every day over the all-star borefest.

I predict at least 2 of our 5 players in this tournament come back injured.....

This is going to be a war out there between those 4 nations.

Should be fun. However, I don't expect the players to take it that seriously. No history behind it and laughably short. At the end of the day how much of a difference does it make if you won the 4 nations tournament?

Purely an exhibition and a waste of time. Pond hockey

They will give a shit.

Not even close to "pond hockey".

We haven't had a best-on-best international showdown like this in years and that alone will get the players excited. And I bet the crowd too when this gets rolling, even many of the ones that are lukewarm for it now.

...and I cannot wait for the Olympics! This four nations is really a great way to get back on track and warm it up toward the real thing.

Toews ain't making the next Olympic team so it'll be nice to see him represent his country.

I see we're trying to forget the painful years (2015) ;)

Remember when the great nation of Europe almost won the last best on best? (Not really, but they got to the finals...)
Players will give it their all, I'm sure. They will all be proud to be the ones to go against the best.

That second line is going to be one of my all-time favorite lines.

Hope my Candian friends don't mind, but I'm cheering for Team Canada. Just no way I can cheer against MacKinnon and Makar. Toews...maybe (just kidding).

Yeah, its going to be difficult.. You could see me cheer after either team scores depending lol.

Finland might be easy to root against, but not if Mikko keeps up this weird back checking thing he's doing.

Yeah, these tournaments, I'll be honest, I mostly cheer for great hockey regardless of the country that does it.

It's just a treat to watch this amount of talent on the ice at one time. There really are no losers as far as fans of hockey in general go.

Yeah, I’m game.

The whole thing is only 7 games, yes?

Yep.

Canada vs. USA on a winter Saturday night in Montreal.

Chills.
