Seems like a lot of guys got banged up

I wonder how nhl owners feel about it

The regular season is played at 55 mph

The playoffs at 75 mph

The US- Canada & Sweden - Finland were 90 MPH

Human body could not maintain that physicality

Hope McAvoy is alright ~ maybe play similar to that in the playoffs but you won’t last like that long. My advice is use that sparingly when the hit is delivered on a platter

Going to hospital makes me think of Bledsoe- that hit on McDavid was a car crash

Terry O’Reilly believe it or not had very good offensive skills but it really only was 3 seasons his body was so beat up and he was never the same nor was Clark Gillies after their 4 iconic fights in the 81? Playoffs

Big hit for sure. Perfectly judged. Hope Charlie is ok, whether it was related to that or something else. But on the other side of it also notable that McDavid got straight back up and carried on, as he always does. Along with his insane skill that guy is tougher than many give him credit for.

I wonder if most of the NHL owners can see the big picture - sure having their large investments exposed to potential serious injury in extracurriculars is not ideal in the short term, especially for the contenders. But events like this series grow the game, which means more interest, more media and ultimately more revenue for everybody. So there is a win there for the owners even if it comes with some possible individual short-term pain. I'd say doing this sort of thing every year would be overkill and too much risk and fatigue. But every 4 or so, perhaps in the even years between Olympic ones, feels about right. It offers something the other major North American sports cannot, and in a crowded market the NHL needs to seize on those kinds of opportunities.

Did Elias Lindholm play in this tournament? Not sure if I heard his name once.

I noticed him a few times. Thought he was ok without ever really doing much of note. Pretty much like his Bruins season so far.

ugh, figures the way this season has gone we would lose our #1 defenseman in the bleeping exhibition games in the middle of the year
Yup. Is this thing over yet? At least if McAvoy is out due to an injury at a stupid tournament, the Bruins management can finally figure out what direction they need to go in prior to the trade deadline.

lol I thought he was solid - watched him like when I watch kid and evaluate decisions made on ice. Plays defense and when you do that there is a cautionary tale

I’m waitihg for Felger to let me know

He also grabbed Charlie's leg on his way down to soften the blow. US is done wo him in the line up

I thought it was only two games of a legit kill or be killed

Canada - US
Sweden - Finland to lesser but they went at it

Even you have to admit this kid is a disaster signing. Way to much money for another checking forward. He will be a buy out if possible

I don’t overreact

His offense is lagged but he has a hand injury

He is not a liability on the ice

I’ll let you know after 25-26 but cap going way up and at worst he will be Coyle and his money % will be Coyle’s

He’s not played to 7.75 but it’s 55 games, big change and a mesh cast on his left hand

Second year is the year I notice most players on new teams have best season

Big loss for the Bruins and the USA, hopefully its minor but hospital visit says its at least moderate
I might be in the minority in this opinion, but those 2 hits on McDavid were totally worth it.

I’ve written off this Bruins season anyway, so if they gotta shut him down for the rest of the season and get him the treatment he needs to fix this once and for all (including surgery) then they should do so now.

That’ll also eliminate any doubt about what to do at the deadline……sell.

I think he took a penalty last night….

Eichel and Werenski have been our best players
You know it, Eichel, I have always thought a lot of, but he is even better than he is really a solid all around hockey player, and Dylan Larkin is a really competitive player with talent nice to see. You are right Werenski has been terrific.

Eichel has really impressed. Two-way player and is totally controlling the game when he's out-there. Imo the best forward so far, in the Tournament

It's not without notice that the 3 guys who were/are the most physical for the USA are currently out of the line up ...2 of the 3 will likely play Thursday but may be less effective.

You live by the sword and you die by the sword. I’d rather it be this way than have them out there half assing it.

what hand injury that you keep bringing up, I honestly think you give this guy to much of a free ride.

Should change his name to Eliazzzzzzzzzz, the most boring hockey player of all-time. For years I thought that title belonged to Riley Nash but now the cure for insomnia is watching Lindholm play.
 what did Riley Nash contract look like ?

It doesn't sound good for Charlie, as per Pierre LeBrun:

The Bruins are expected to issue an update on Charlie McAvoy this morning. The Team USA star D is still having tests run on him.

Good post, all I ever hear when someone is trying build up a player they like, he is so good away from the puck ( sound familiar ) Eichel is really noticeable all the time he is on the ice, he is a positive pretty much every shift.
