I don't see how they weren't "on their games" on any collective level. They beat Canada. You don't the best NHL players from fricking Canada by not being on your game. They kept the dangerous opportunities to a minumum (via a disciplined, hard checking style for 60 full minutes) against an absolutely insane opposing lineup. I was beyond impressed with how the Americans could play that kind of game at that pace with what amounts to almost no practice together. It was the Canadians that were finding themselves out of position more often than the US.

Did the US fly up and down the ice all game long? No. But that's not because they weren't on their game. That's because they played Canada.
I didn't think Canada have their A game in the least either. Crosby was terrible Stone was a no show.

The US should have eaten that Canadian D alive but didn't

Look, I love the win and hope Canada loses the next one as well. They haven't looked all that great so far.

What's left to say?

The hype was tremendous and the game exceeded expectations.

The Belle Center was a tinder box at the outset, and the fights let all that emotion be expressed. And props to Hagel, I didn't know he had that in him.

But to me, a crucial turning point was McAvoy's first big hit on McDavid. The crowd was electrified by Canada's early goal, and that top line was hoping for more Harlem Globetrotters-style hockey. So Mac's hit was timely.

Binnington is an easy scapegoat, since Guentzel's tying goal was stoppable. But that loaded lineup managed one goal; so let's give credit where it is due - USA's defense. Slavin is unreal defensively.

I'm glad you recognized Slavin. He was absolutely outstanding today. Boldy too.

If it was up to me, Slavin, Boldy and B Tkachuk would have been my 3 stars.

You notice McDavid stop coming down Macs side of the ice. He changed the game with his hits on him and Crosby.

Kid is a stud

The only problem with Brady Tkachuk is he got a bad hairline. If it wasn't for that he'd be a face of the NHL like his brother. He might not be quite the scoring, but he mixes it up far better and he's a great player in his own right. I'd love to get him here, give him his own tower or whatever it takes to get that ogre on the Bruins.

I’ve been to both Montreal & Toronto a dozen times + each for hockey and truth be told I’ve always felt welcomed in Toronto by their fans/ community. I’ve always enjoyed Montreal but the folks aren’t as welcoming.
Never been to western Canada but will in fall this year
There are many stubborn francophones in Montreal who do not like anybody who doesn't talk french

..where are you headed to western Canada??

Anyone think that the Bruins will bring back Mike Sullivan as head coach next season?

If Sweeney and Neely are in charge, entirely, foolishly possible.

I have nothing against Mike Sullivan, a three time Cup champion.

But do you really want a retread of this kind? I say Quennville, and everyone else, for various reasons, says no.

How about a flavor of the month college flame?

I don't think so.

No expert, but again, someone who I respect, calls, and knows the game suggests

What do I know?

I'm just a Bruins fan(antic),

Sweeney's defensemen philosophy showing on team Canada tonight. Makar goes out and Morrissey is their only natural puck mover (at this caliber of player). Harley was the next best and wasn't even a roster selection.
