Player of his caliber at his age are never available, so when they are you need to consider it. Like Joe Thornton 29 years ago
Noooo!!!! That was 29 years ago??? Oh Gods, I feel old....

[edit: oh wait, that was in 2005. Damn, still, that's a long time ago...I feel a little 'less' old but old still ;) ]

Mission find a rd for Lane

Provorov would be the most interesting one to me, he's a lefty but plays the right side. He can log a ton of minutes, can skate well and is solid defensively.

Also, I think it would be good having a Russian vet around to help Demidov when he comes over next year.

Kind of dissapointed with the lack of movement across the league but specifically from us. Looks like we’ll have to wait for March 7th

The assumptions is that while teams have negotiated deals during the 4 nations, they are waiting for it to conclude to announce them. I expect deals to start leaking late on the 20th or on the 21st.

Who do I think ACTUALLY gets traded?
- Evans (late 1st or 2n and B prospect)
- Armia (I have a feeling they keep him as a low cost 4th liner....otherwise a 2nd)
- Savard (2nd or 3rd ++)
-50/50 anyone actually wants DVO (lol)

Dvorak will go, as will Armia.

Can they afford to get rid of Evans and Dvo -if they want Laval to go on a run, is it worth calling up guys like Beck just to get a 5th for Dvo?
I just don’t see HuGo performing shock therapy on this group at this stage in season 3, even MSLs behavior suggests they are going to keep trying hard towards trying to get a wildcard spot.

I expect Dvorak to be traded and maybe Savard if someone offers more than a late 3rd round pick

Evans I expect to be extended and maybe even Armia to a team friendly short term deal - PK has shown a tremendous improvement they won’t screw with that

I'm sure they'll do some waivers mining, or take some fringe roster players off the cap from other teams looking for space. There's ways to keep Laval stocked while playing out the rest of our year.

Connor Murphy could make sense this summer. Don’t think he will cost that much and could be a good replacement for Savard
I don't like his edge numbers about being among the slowest in the league. Dunno if it's better since Richardson was fired. Dunno if it's due to being hemmed in his zone all the time

Not a lot of RD options available though

He start close to 70 % of his presences in the Dzone and had success with small offensive Dmen like Erik Gustafsson in the past

Connor Murphy makes no sense under any circumstances. He's not a top 4 guy. Let's not repeat the MB years please. You go get a top 4 RHD or you don't, there's no try. If you can't ice a kid.

All those guys play roles on teams that need depth.
Its funny, but I see Armia wanting to stay. He seems to be the sort of guy who probably prefers an early summer anyways and not be bother to move his family (his wife is expecting their 2nd child soon, they announced in January). He's already made $25M, and he probably knows he won't break the bank on a last contract, so he may very well sign for 3 years at a reasonable price to stay put. Moving just for the kick of having a playoff run may not be that enticing for him right now.

Savard was an interesting asset for playoffs, but he really slowed down this year and/or is playing injured. Not sure anyone is going to pay big for him right now.

This 4 nations break means a lot of players can take a break to recover from injuries, and there are less chances for anyone to get injured (unless you play in that final!). Maybe the market will be slower this year...
