I was surprised Canada didn’t win by a bigger margin. I think they’l figure things out and quite easily take gold at Olympics.

My biggest surprise (but not really) is how much people draw wild conclusions about certain players after 3 games in what ultimately is a pointless mid-season tournament.

Canada has the better high end forwards, but the US probably has the better overall D and goalie, except Binnington stepped up huge late in the game this time around.

It should be close, the advantage Canada used to have on D and in net is pretty much gone.

Also Team Canada's brass made some stupid roster choices (Cirelli and Jarvis over Scheifle and Hyman was stupid).

I actually thought the US would win going into the tournament, but that it's really close between the two countries, and it was.

Canada's big guns had to come up big and they did. Not a lot of space out there and few clean looks.

The team could still use some tweaking.

Teams are going to offer even less for EP40 than when JT Miller was still there because he was invisible
Personally I thought his useage was shit but regardless and wether people want to believe it or not, he's clearly not recovered the extra gear he had before his injury and likely due to the fact he wasn't able to train all summer.

I will say none of the forwards looked good and to me that's a coaching issue.

Jack Hughes also isn't a winger but your Devils hatred boner is too big to realize that. Glorified Will Butcher looked great on that second Canada goal though
If you didnt come away from this tourney deeply concerned with the devils relying on jack hughes to be their guy or the rangers relying on adam fox to be their #1 dman then idk what to tell you

Just a thought, but how is Brady Tkachuk going to handle going back to the capital of Canada after this? He shit talked a lot and now, not only does he have to eat crow after losing, he has to do so in Ottawa. Matthew goes back to Florida and hears nothing of it again, but Brady has to live in his defeat for however long the Canadian media and fans decide he does.

Does he ask out? He's a prideful emotional guy, do any of you think he can get over the loss and the constant reminder of losing and play his best for the Sens? Or are they better off soaking some American based team while his value is pretty high?

He's the Team Captain and beloved in the Capital. How would that change?

I'd commend him for his performance in these games.

The message you send the rest of the players when you trade the Team Captain and one of its best players "while his value is pretty high" is that you aren't interested in competing this year.

I get that, I just wonder if him being American, and full of pride with being American, doesn't want this loss in front of him like his brother.

I'm not advocating trading him or anything like that... I just find it an interesting situation where a guy like Brady, prideful emotional and cocky, now has to face this loss for a longer time than his brother will. Will it influence him in asking out?

I do agree with you that his value is unsustainably high given the audience and the stakes.

What will influence his opinion on Ottawa going forward is whether they can get into a playoff spot, and consistently, not this mid-season tournament that is already in the rearview mirror.

If Ottawa can't be competitive between now and 2028, then I wouldn't be surprised if he wants out because it would be completely understandable.

Based on what I've seen, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy to demand a trade prior to that point because he's not like his brother.

A lot of people were expecting him to demand a bridge or a shorter contract because of remarks Matt had made in the media at the time, but he didn't, he went for the maximum term.

He's definitely tired of losing in Ottawa. This is pretty important season for the club given the length of the playoff drought.

Sorry about that, sometimes I re-read it and think of something.
