IIRC it was only NHL players, so they didn't have enough players.

Czechia has enough players, although not enough defenseman.

Hertl - Necas - Pasta
Palat - Zacha - Faksa
Lauko - Chytil - Vrana
Kampf - Blumel - Nosek

Hronek - Gudas
Rutta - Jiricek
?????

Dostal
Vejmelka

They're likely pretty good with an ahl 3rd pair, tbh. The forward group isn't awful.

that is not a competitive roster though against the other 4 though.

Let Hughes or whoever play, I don't care. If we win I don't want to hear a cavalcade of excuses. With Hellebuyck in net they still have a large advantage anyway.

I gotta say..

I think it’s absolutely absurd Evan Bouchard was seemingly not even considered for this team.

He would look very good out there.

I think it’s honestly hard to say with Bouchard. Hes a hard player to understand and analyze.

I feel like hes been left off because he can’t be trusted. And when you watch him in the regular season he makes so many unforced errors and plays which make little sense that it’s hard to really argue.

But then he goes and does so many other things well. Theres the good and the bad which is pretty typical of offensive players.

What makes him hard to figure out is that hes the type of player that you would expect for him to fall apart as the games get tough. But in reality hes the opposite. He has great playoff numbers. His game seems to get better. But even saying that am I confident that hes going to be great again these playoffs? Hopefully.

So I think based on his playoff numbers, he should really exceed in this tournament but other GM don’t really trust him because of his regular season gaffes and well because this Canadian front office are incompetent and biased.

The problem though is the players they chose instead are kinda meh. A lot of the roster decisions are just confusing.

I gotta say, I never really cared about international tournaments and wondered why we go so crazy for them. I derided the Four Nations tournament as a silly waste of time but with the recent tensions between us and them, I finally “get” it.

I was super-hyped for the last game and this final game is massive. I’ve never wanted my “team” to beat another so bad.

I’m not lost on the irony that my favourite musical artist is American but I can’t give up Prince lol. I haven’t been blown away from someone’s music like this since the first time I listened to The Beatles White Album.

I think 5 countries (teams) would have thrown off the balance. Though a team Europe(not Russia) would have been interesting, because there's some big stars not playing in this.

Its an NHL event, not an IIHF. NHl players must play and no IIHF players can, because its not IIHF sanctioned and those teams you mentioned dont have enough players to make teams out of NHL players. Finland barely had enough to ice a full roster.

Thats all there is to the tournament, its an NHL ALL STAR game replacement not a World Championship or Olympic replacement.

100%

If you can't handle the physical play ( getting hurt being physical shows that you can't) kind of speaks for itself doesn't it?
Thanks folks, and this makes sense. I knew it was an NHL only deal, I just didn’t realise the number of players in the league for each country weren’t as high as they once were (or at least so it seems).

But a big f*** you to Guerin.

I just wanted to watch my hockey in peace without the WWE-style theatrics trying to bring the political circus into this 4 Nations game. Ramping up the rhetoric just increases the chance that McDavid will get hurt by some reckless American player.

Since the roster rules have been discarded at this point, Canada needs to call up Wilson and Olivier to play alongside Bennett.

Stone-McDavid-Point is a good line. I was advocating for Crosby-McDavid-Point because Crosby is better at making quick reads, but Stone has shown to be pretty good at making breakout passes off the half wall.

In this short tournament I’ve seen McDavid get to skate the puck up the ice with speed more times than I have in the entire season so far back in Edmonton. Combination of guys like Doughty and Makar making deft breakout passes along with Stone and Point being far better at picking the puck off the boards and finding our guy up the middle.

This tournament has done an amazing job at illuminating the skill gaps between some players. Who the gamers are and who dissipates under tight checking pressure.

Funny seeing some guys like Marner and Reinhart become nothing while Point, Bennett, etc really impress me.

How are you this new to the board and not have more likes?

Have some likes my friend.

Personally I thought Reinhart looked really good with 29-87 after looking pretty invisible the first five periods with 97. Sometimes certain players games don't mesh even when both are great.

Jokes aside I don't think Leon would have any interest in playing for a team that isn't Germany.

And IMO that rules. As a fan of Canada soccer growing up it was always very frustrating to watch any talent we did produce immediately seek some European citizenship so they could play for a stronger national side.
