Players at this skill level seem to have difficulty figuring out that the plays they can make against the 3rd line of the Utah Hockey Club are not going to be there at any point in games like this. The whole f***ing night it was, enter, pivot, pass, turn it over. Or cycle, pass, turn it over.

The only goals possible against rosters like this are quick shots either off the rush or on quick broken plays. We just won’t take any of those shots. Americans got two that way, we didn’t. End of game.

It's tough to generate offence in a best-on-best situation when your D are incapable of doing anything besides rimming the puck around the boards when they get it in the O zone.

Not choosing a single chemistry fit for the best players on your team might be the most insane decision.

I mean, they picked the entire lightning second line. 😂

I can't help but think there a number of guys who would have made a big difference in a game like this that were left at home though.

Wilson. Hyman. McCann. Kadri. Schenn. ROR. Couturier. Bouchard.

Thompson...

Could have used Drai tonight for those quick releases but alas, wrong birth certificate.

That would be fine, the other problem is we lack size and compete.

You bet your ass a Tom Wilson would find his way to the net. Meanwhile we got Marner and Reinhart achieving literally f***ing nothing out there and small man Cirelli and Jarvis as our energy guys.

Cirelli - an energy guy that skates at an American League pace.

It's like listening to them talk about Skinner. Infuriating.

Like how hard is it to say they were bad and move on? It doesn't have to be a big discussion, just acknowledge reality FFS.
Sounds familiar, that's for sure. He has some of the same issues as Skinner and the team knew this.

Was Aidan Hill available? He would have been my choice.

If McDavid is physically capable it would be nice to see him channel his 64 goal scoring self if Canada gets a rematch for the championship.

The lines need to be better.

I’d try

Stone-McDavid-Crosby
Bennett-McKinnon-Reinhart
Hagel-Point-Marner
Marchand-Cirelli-Konecny

Stone and Crosby seem too slow to play with McDavid. I liked him and Point together and would throw Bennett on the left. I feel Stone works better with MacK. I also like Crosby way better at Center

I would try something like this:

Bennett-McDavid-Point
Stone-MacKinnon-Marner
Marchand-Crosby-Reinhart
Hagel-Cirelli-Jarvis
