I think if Brown is used the same way he was used when Geoff Ward was here, then there might be success for Brown. The former PP coach became the Kings' head coach. Curious if Brown is there to implement what Hiller wants, kinda like what he did for Ward with the Ducks.

Brown proved, inconsistently, that he can reach highs in the 22% efficiency range. Maybe being the follower again could revive his career. The Ducks needed a leader type and Brown couldn't do it here after Ward left the club.

Care to elaborate? Don't have Athletic, nor plan on buying.
In his first NHL training camp, Babcock sidelined three well-liked veterans: Jason York, Denny Lambert and German Titov. Lambert and York said they arrived at the Ducks training camp to find their names had been removed from their stalls and gear cleared out. Babcock told them they could not be around the team at all, they said. The players practiced alone on empty ice in the afternoon.

At the time, Lambert’s 2-year-old son was in the hospital with a broken femur; he said he wouldn’t have left his family in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, if the Ducks had told him he was unwanted. Lambert said he asked Babcock why he’d been removed. Was it his performance on the ice? An issue in the locker room? Babcock told Lambert there was nothing he could do to change his mind.

“There was no respect at all,” Lambert said. “I would never treat anyone like that.”

When York confronted Babcock, he was told it was just an attempt to inject some leadership with the AHL group, York said. But after several days, the players were banished from the rink. Even when Lambert later hitched a ride on the team plane so he could return to his family, he sat away from the other players, feeling he was no longer welcome.

“It’s not just you that you’re playing for. You’re playing for your family, you’re playing for your kids, right?” said York. “He took my livelihood like it was nothing.”

The Twilight Zone
Some brutal stuff about Babcock and his short ducks tenure.

It makes so much more sense in retrospect why he was let go.

And also in retrospect why PK might have up and bailed on the team? Though getting out from under his contract ultimately worked out for us ... $10m a year QO in 2003? I wouldn't pay him $10m NOW based on how he was playing.

It sucks. I was living in Spokane when he coached the Chiefs, so I had a love for him. Sucks he turned out to be such a jerk.

"Jacob Larsson signs 2 year deal with Rapperswil-Jona in Switzerland." after 5-6 seasons of going back and forth from anaheim to san diego it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to cut it in the nhl. i never expected him to be a top 4 dman anyway, but it's still a bummer. kid was always super nice at fan events.

If all else fails, he can become a stunt double for Leo Woodall:

I believe injuries did him bad early on. He looked like a stud in the SHL and early in the NHL career. He beat out Theo and Monty even when being younger. He was at least as good as Forsling even tho being a year younger.

Hope he has a lot of success going forward.

i always wondered if babcock was always a POS or if he gradually became one over the course of his coaching career. guess there's the answer. wouldn't surprise me at all if he played a role in PK bailing

what a despicable human being
