The Jets haven't soured on any of these guys they just don't have many/any spots for them on the roster.

Alex Burmistrov
Marko Dano
Joel Armia
Jansen Harkins
Scott Kosmachuk
Andrew Copp
Brendan Lemieux?
Nic Petan?

Higher cost for Petan/Lemieux

Needs:

Near NHL ready LHD
Taking Mark Stuart or potentially Pavelec in a deal would certainly help us
Prospects who are a few years away?
Picks?

Don't need:
Forwards
Goalies

IMO no way we trade Dano, Lemieux or Petan are all just too good to give up.

Any of the rest of them, sure open for sale.

Seems like the Oilers and Jets would be pretty good trade partners for a prospect for prospect deal. Our LHD prospects/young NHLers:

Nurse - not really for sale, the price would be very high.

Davidson - just a smart and poised hockey player. Not one aspect of his game really stands out other than decision making (above average shot), but his role just kept expanding as the year went on and he performed admirably every time. Overachieved to the point he's locked in to the 4/5 role to start the year. Not really for sale either (there's no way other team's would value him the way we do).

Reinhart - polarizing prospect, possesses high hockey sense and good size, is a sub par skater with limited puck skill and doesn't play physical enough for his likely role (4/5 shutdown D). Ceiling would be Phillips/Alzner, floor a journeyman 6/7 guy (let's say a LH Mark Fayne).

Oesterle - much like fellow overachiever Brandon Davidson, continually outperforms expectations. Undersized, but a good decision maker and decent puck mover. Had 5 points in 17 games with the Oil last year.

Jones - Seth's little brother, was a key player for the Winterhawks last year in the WHL. Athletic blood lines and playing for a top notch CHL development program, he's headed in the right direction. Projects as a 2nd pair puck mover (if all goes right).

Paigin - towering Russian put up 9-18-27 in 37 games in the KHL last year. Raw in many aspects of his game, but intriguing due to his size and cannon from the point.

There are others beyond this, but felt these fit the criteria of the OP's request.

Montreal has a surplus of LHD (currently in NHL)

And imo, need to get some more forward prospects.

I think the left-side will look like:

Beaulieu
Markov
Emelin
Redmond
*Sergachev (also plays right-side, but has been left-side in camp)

*if he makes the team

Sergachev is going nowhere. Does Winnipeg have interest in Emelin? (or have the countless "Emelin to" threads depreciated his actual value)

Redmond shoots right. Barberio, Samuelsson, Hanley and Parisi are our other LH defenceman that could see NHL time.

Kylington+. With an offensive minded coach he'd be a shoe in for our 3rd line RW, but Maurice likes to hold young players down so we don't know what he'll top out at yet.

Dano's had some contributions at the NHL level, Kylington was a late 2nd with a draft+1 that didnt help his stock. Seems like a poor move for WPG

... I think the OP forgot to say that goalie prospects are welcome (sorry, I just happen to love Söderström). ...

relative to LD, we had agreed to
McD 4.7 x3 + Ranger 3rd in 2017, and NYR 4th in 2018
for
Trouba, [RFA = 0, but will result in savings for Wini since it is not paying Trouba 6 or more] + Jets 2nd in 2017, and Jets 3rd in 2018
cap is close enough

I am fine with that as a done deal.

If you would like a second swap, mindful of the above, I am willing to give a discounted Marc Staal, down to 4.0 (you are taking on his NMC)

looking for minimal return on Staal
to put up somebody's salary for cap, Burmi is fine for start
would consider one of our nice prospect Gs in exchange for the back scratch

doubt you would go there w. Staal due to NMC, but have to ask
am willing to try to work with you outside the box, some concession on talent, $, -- just can't take back NMC

Have enough of those already.

Not sure any of those name would bring us what we need. We need a real top LHD, and none of those or any combination would bring us that....

Fair enough. The reason why I'd be looking to move Wotherspoon is bottom pairing guys are a dime a dozen. You don't get a top 4 guy for Dano though. Especially a young one. If you want that you're going to be giving up a forward you don't want to move, not one of your surplus guys.

Dude even the biggest homer would have to realize the + would be coming the other way and it would be fairly substantial. How many 18 year old defensemen play in the NHL in their draft year? Not to mention Kylington has huge upside. We're talking about a forward who is middle 6 at best here.

Huh? He was playing the tough minutes in the AHL as an 18 year old and had a cup of coffee in the NHL this year and looked really good. He's way better than Nurse already and is two years younger.

We can have Lemieux, Petan, Armia in the AHL.

Harkins will be in the WHL.

Burmi/Copp/Dano will be on the Jets.

I like Dano but he's not worth Kylington. If Kylington reaches his potential he will be a number one D. People look at his stat line and say he had an unimpressive year in the AHL... Fact of the matter is he was almost eligible for the 2016 draft and played a regular top four D shift in the AHL. Is he there yet? No. But you just don't trade prospects with his skillset. No way. And he did play an NHL game to answer your question.

I was thinking more like picks for Dano if the Jets are forced to trade him. We are strong on the backend in prospects in a few years with (Hickey, Kulak, Andersson, Fox and Kylington.) but we could definitely use an NHL ready winger if the Jets can't keep him because of #s.

Any interest in Derek Forbort? He's been on slow cook in LA. Not exactly the sexy pick up, but Dmen can take ages to develop and he's nhl ready. I don't really know much about the guys that you listed, but i'd be after a near ready center prospect to compete with our bottom 6 centers, preferably 3c upside, or an equal value RD

Mirco Mueller for Marko Dano?

Exactly what I was thinking. Mueller is a young, bottom-pairing LHD with upside, which is what the Jets are looking for. We have too many LHD's right now, especially if Dillon slips past the draft.

My only question is, how would the Jets protect all of their D if they trade for Mueller, who needs draft protection?
