If Wilson struggles this weekend and Saleh doesn't replace him, Douglas needs to tell Saleh to replace him or he'll be fired. And if Douglas allows Saleh to stick with Wilson then he should be fired, too.

I assume both guys are safe through the season and that Douglas is probably safe for next season. Woody will let him have a year with Rodgers. He doesn't deserve it but I think that's how it will be. They'll probably fire Saleh and let Rodgers pick the head coach. At this rate it will probably be f***ing Hackett.

Part of me wants to say everyone should be fired ASAP and they should tear it all down regardless of Rodgers. But that's all this franchise ever does. I guess you give a 40 year old Rodgers one year to do something.
I think Wilson is in there because of Douglas more than Saleh. That pick belongs to the GM. That GM has consistently failed to provide another capable option whether it was when Zach was a rookie or when AR went down. Douglas is so tough to evaluate. He's done a great job in some aspects and a lousy job in others.

I'm not the biggest fan of Zach, as everyone knows, but they honestly might just know the other two guys stink. Boyle definitely stinks, and no team has tried to sign Siemian off of the Jets practice squad when it feels like 2 QB's get hurt every week.

Siemian lost the backup job in Cincy to 27 year old Jake Browning, who has never taken a real NFL snap before this season, where he has 1, and Burrow played on 1 leg.

I think it's Woody. Never count him out of anything incompetent. They're might be some steam to this whole Woody/JetBlue/Zach's Uncle thing too. Would explain the pick, the staying with him, or it's just sheer incompetence and throwing the year away.

Problem is other guys were available who might’ve been better options. I’d rather see Zach over Boyle or Simien but there could’ve been a legit secondary option.

Woody says “don’t get a legitimate backup behind Zach?” I could see your angle more if they got someone else but just refused to play them.

They also benched him twice last year it’s just them being stubborn

What are the odds that the Giants pull a Jets in the Trevor Lawrence year and beat the Pats and/or Commanders?
I was distraught when it happened but never expected the other 4 QBs to be complete trash. If the Jets had Lawrence now they could have used the picks to acquire Rodgers to fix the OL and be in a much better situation. I’m sad typing this out.

I’m a rollercoaster when it comes to Douglas. He’s light years ahead of previous GMs and for the first time ever (to my knowledge) him Saleh, the scouts and coaching staff have an actual plan. They’ve hit on a bunch of draft picks but the major issues:
1) missed the QB
2) health of the team
3) was supposed to be an OL guy

The two of them have some strong highs and awful lows. Idk what I want anymore. But I think Woody is causing a lot of problems with the QBs in general.

Douglas has been very hot and cold.

The Will McDonald pick was so bizarre. Absolutely not needed. I know the run on OT scuttled their plans but they didn’t factor that in? Totally wasted a pick.

He definitely has some home runs, but way too many misses. The total inability to build an offensive line, like, ever, is totally baffling. I know there's been some bad luck with injuries but with a guy like Becton it wasn't unforeseen and then they seemed to kind of mishandle him after that. Too many malcontents brought in, and shitty wide receivers. All in all it's mediocre at best, and that's if you ignore the huge whiff on Wilson.

You can't blame him for missing the QB in the draft. If you did you'd have to fire almost all the GMs. Teams miss on QBs up the top. Not having a viable backup or running out to get one after Rodgers got hurt is totally on him though.

I actually blame the plan more than the pick. Inexperienced QB who looked good one season, rookie defensive HC, rookie OC, Flacco didn’t want to mentor him, Greg Knapp tragic death, handed the starting job without any competition etc. He was doomed from the start.

I feel like GMs usually do get fired in large part for missing a QB at the top, though. Isn't that the thing, most GMs don't get a chance to draft a second QB? You blow that pick and your team is probably going to suck and that will be the end of you (temporarily anyway).

I think they both get next season with an understood playoff mandate, even if Rodgers gets hurt next year, they won’t let him use that as an excuse. Douglas is going to finish this year like 30 games under 500 since he got here, and the coach probably 15-20 games under 500.

Douglas is a horrible GM who had one good draft.

He needs to go, take Saleh with him.

Buffalo can fire their OC mid season but this brain dead organization hangs on to these loser coaches for years

The Jets finally made their offensive change, releasing little used third down running back Michael Carter.

That's better than any of his predecessors. The UDFA signings have been good too.

I'm keeping Douglas because I am sold that he knows talent. He built the entire secondary, the wealth of pass rushers that he has obtained, and he is aggressive in getting who he wants.

The OL does need to be better, but not for a lack of effort in his end. Becton and Vera Tucker with 1st rounders, Tippmann with a 2nd, spent on Tomlinson. It's tough when it has been injury after injury each season. You were down to your 4th center, 3rd/4th guard, and even had to use a tackle at guard for a game.

My biggest gripe is WR. You took Moore and Mims and got nothing for Mims and basically used Moore to get Rodgers. Wilson is amazing, but there is next to nothing afterwards. This team desperately needs a WR. Maybe Gipson turns into something, but he looks like Berrios.

Eh. It's not really the GMs fault that their #2 WR retired during training camp. Even if he's not the best #2, having Davis there would slot everyone else down and make the whole group much stronger.

This is kind of who Lazard has always been. Rodgers got him more targets so the stat line was better but he always had all the F-ups.

My bigger gripe right now is Mcdonald over Jaxon smith or Flowers

I honestly didn’t watch the Packers that closely but I’ve read a bunch similar to what you said. He’s a dumbass who needs target volume to put up numbers.

Let him go

I know the relationship with him and Giants fans isn't great but everything he said is true and/or reasonable. I don't know what else he'd be expected to say given the circumstances.
