I do laugh for a few years there when they were shoving Hayes down the fanbases’ throat at every turn & how great of a guy he was. Fast forward to now where he’s the devil & is being blamed for something when he’s not even here anymore.

I’m not even saying it’s necessarily wrong but it’s funny nonetheless.
They can't pin this one on Hextall, so they pivoted to a new scapegoat.

They definitely wanted the trade to be finalized during the game so they could talk directly to the fans. That being said, JJ sounded completely shocked.

I actually appreciate this if true. And I believe them.

I give the Flyers credit for one thing:

Jonesy and Briere got out ahead of this. It could've been a major, major, MAJOR disaster. Don't get me wrong: it's bad...but they made lemonade of a bad situation. They somehow kept it quiet that Cutter didn't want to sign here, kept leverage in a deal, and now that he's gone they are making it *very* clear that Cutter is being a selfish, arrogant prospect who thinks they're too good for an NHL team.

Have to say, it sounds like they did everything right in a vacuum.

Now, my question is: why not the Flyers? was it really Hayes? did Cutter hear Torts was in for the long haul and he didn't want it? Because if it is Torts...I'm not happy despite this shocking competence shown in this deal.

We keep being right about everything though. So it's not really unjustified misery, is it? More like rational observations.
Well to be fair, It’s easy to say you’re right about everything so as long as the team doesn’t win the Stanley cup lol… Not even saying I disagree with half of the posts on here, I very rarely post on here bc it’s a dead forum that I solely check for blockbuster/big moves for entertainment purposes. I didn’t like the idea of Danny as GM at first and posted that it screamed of the old boys club.

But that is entirely separate from posting on this forum multiple times daily complaining about any and every move the team makes. A 19 year old kid who has never touched a sheet of NHL ice decides he doesn’t want to play here which okay, you guys can say it’s his right and that’s true. What you don’t do is ignore a team you told you were born to play for when they drafted you without any communication as to your thought process etc… I just think it’s wild that the first reaction as people who follow the ins and outs of this team and make it a part of their daily life/personality is to take the side of anyone else who is against the team. You can dislike the direction of the team without actively rooting against them. If manifestation was in fact a real thing, the flyers would never win a cup solely because of people with that attitude completely shitting on every single thing they do. Losing cutter hurts, but that doesn’t mean it should be assumed it was all the flyers fault and he’s some prophet that saw the next 3 years of our future and got out while he could like some people are making it out to be. It’s just as likely that the kid actually is an entitled lazy brat, it’s not that outlandish of a possibility.

that's the $64,000 question

To play out college? Either way I doubt his value would have ever been higher than it is now

Drysdale probably isn’t available if he didn’t have injury concerns and the Ducks didn’t have a stacked set of D prospects

I think a healthy Drysdale moves the needle more in 3-5 years than Cutter, who wasn’t going to play for us anyway
Cutter is special, this completely changes everything for me. I kind of was praying we would luck into Cutter and Michkov being two elite fwds and find our D Man in the next year or two.

i just feel doomed tonight. Absolutely doomed.

Glad they’re putting their star of the franchise on the case. I’m sure he’ll be taking pot shots at Gauthier over the next week in any pressers he does.

Proving Gauthier was probably right for not wanting to play for him. Fans can badmouth him because "fan" is short for fanatic, but a coach should probably take the high road.

A couple of things here. If Hayes bad mouthed the Flyers in order to convince Gauthier to not come to Philly he is one of the biggest pieces of **** to ever put on skates. When Hayes’ brother died of a drug overdose the organization did not say one negative word in public about it or question Kevin Hayes’ use of drugs pharmaceuticals.

This is unhinged. Why would they question Kevin’s drug use?!

Agreed. I like that Jones credited the other teams (about 20 of them it looks like) who Cutter agreed he'd go to for keeping it quiet in case he changed his mind. They did get a good player for him, possibly someone who is going to be a better player in the end. We'll see. Still would've liked another 1st next year, hopefully they'll find one somehow.

I assume Walker will be dealt soon too, he's in Drysdale's spot.

There is definitely an alternate reality where there is a meltdown happening in 6 months because this leaked and the Flyers let it drag out all summer.

Also really goes to show that our leaky front office is selectively so.

I have no issues with the front office or organization on this one. In fact, after hearing Briere's comments and side of the story, I think he handled it rather deftly. Fletcher couldn't find a single trade partner for JVR and Briere and his front office builds a Potemkin village to mask the absence of communication with Gauthier for a whole year. Gauthier didn't even have the courtesy and honor to return their calls? That's some pretty low-quality nonsense right there. Now he gets Drysdale and 34-36 overall. All that considered, I'm not going to make me lose a minute of sleep tonight.

I found it funny that when describing Drysdale, Briere said he was excited to get a quality player at a premium position for a left winger. LOL on the backhanded insult, even though I don't think he meant it that way. It's a loss when a player doesn't want to play for your club, and I won't pretend it's just some minor transaction, but now that it's done I feel free to root totally against the kid. Thinks he's Lindros. F him.
