Confirmed with Link: Flyers trade Cutter Gauthier to Anaheim for Jamie Drysdale and 2025 2nd round pick

Gauthier and his camp completely ghosting a team that invested a 5th overall pick in them, because you presumably were okay with being drafted by them after interviewing, is a scumbag move.

What makes him even more of a loser is that it was likely because he worships those two Southie Mongrels Hayes & Yandle and they turned him against us. Imagine letting those two bags of dicks influence your future?

I hate that we picked him. I hate that we are in this situation. The Flyers are still f***ing incompetent, but f*** this kid. Hope his career is a bust..however unlikely that may be.

I know everyone is circlejerking that Tortorella and the Flyers are awful, but this is just bizarre. This trade sucks.

Who is Cutter Gauthier to make a demand like this? For what possible reasons?

The Flyers aren’t the 1991 Quebec Nordiques. Nothing about this makes sense.
The Flyers aren't a destination anymore. They haven't been for decades. There is no reason to think of them at a prestigious organization even if the Flyers keep saying they about themselves.

We have no evidence that supports other players in the league think the Flyers are somebody you want to go play for.

His teammate Logan Cooley signed with Arizona. They play in a Division II College Rink lol. This goes beyond the Flyers not being a premier destination.

except he didn't demand anything..all he said was he wouldn't play for us..which is again worrying...the Flyers organization needs to build itself back up to a place where players want to come to..they haven't been that in forever...they still play an old boring style of play and have very 70's/80's ideas

I do laugh for a few years there when they were shoving Hayes down the fanbases’ throat at every turn & how great of a guy he was. Fast forward to now where he’s the devil & is being blamed for something when he’s not even here anymore.

I’m not even saying it’s necessarily wrong but it’s funny nonetheless.

The irony should not be lost on anyone.

I hope this is true

I don’t actually believe the Flyers don’t know why Gauthier didn’t want to sign.

It’s in their best interest to publicly take a stance they don’t know & just discredit him through back channels within the media.
Of course they know. They can't just say "hey, our 2nd best prospect won't sign with us because everyone in bean town thinks John's an asshole."

Not a fan of drysdale. And as far as gauthier, loved the talent he has. but, changing up his opinion on playing for the flyers is fine, i dont like it but fine. but, not having the fortitude or dignity to explain himself to a team willing to spend millions on him and his development is a piece of shit entitled ass hole way to do business. refusing to talk to the flyers while they obviously tried to talk to him is some primadonna bs.
I mean he is literally a fetus. None of us were really functioning humans at this age. Dickish? Sure. But most of us were the same.

F him anyway there are a lot of worse places to be than Philly - like Anaheim. I hope he has personal success but never, ever gets close to a Cup.
Yeah, the ducks are so mich worse. What with their more recent cup, more recent contention window, being further along in their rebuild, better weather, non asshole coach.

Much better to be with a team thay still has no idea how to operate in the cap era, has no clear path forward and hasn't had a real contention window in God knows how long.

We have done very well here......in fact it looks like both teams have done well...very even and it is nice to have a high potential young dman coming to Philly....now we just have to tank the rest of the year and get another high pick.....

Jamie Drysdale is a pretty good prospect. I didn't really know that much about him, except for seeing him at the WJC. Going back to look at the draft previews, he was the top D in the 2020 draft, elite skater. That's helping me appreciate that a PPQB who can skate at an elite level is someone they need. Better offensive prospect than York and Andrae, for example.

That couldn’t happen till August 2026.
To play out college? Either way I doubt his value would have ever been higher than it is now

Drysdale probably isn’t available if he didn’t have injury concerns and the Ducks didn’t have a stacked set of D prospects

I think a healthy Drysdale moves the needle more in 3-5 years than Cutter, who wasn’t going to play for us anyway

This could have gone much worse. Imagine if he walked for nothing. It’s a ballsy trade by Briere but a no brainer if Cutter wasn’t going to sign
If Briere knew years before Cutter went to free agency he wasn't going to sign here, and Cutter walked anyway, how incompetent does that make the GM?

Imagine looking up to Hayes lol
A couple of things here. If Hayes bad mouthed the Flyers in order to convince Gauthier to not come to Philly he is one of the biggest pieces of **** to ever put on skates. When Hayes’ brother died of a drug overdose the organization did not say one negative word in public about it or question Kevin Hayes’ use of drugs pharmaceuticals.
Secondly Gauthier has been given loads of opportunities to show that he has the potential to be a center in the NHL. He doesn’t have the skills and is a wing. Briere decided not to try to pound a square into a round hole and accepted that Gauthier is a wing and let it go.
Finally, drafting Gauthier was a Fletcher-Flahr move not a Briere one. That fantastic duo didn’t do their job vetting Gauthier. They’re the ones that laid this egg that Briere has had to clean up.
