I’m just typing this out for my own purpose to see it

In: Ellis, Ristolainen, Atkinson, Yandle, Martin Jones

Out: Voracek, Myers, Patrick, Ghost, 1st, 2nd (22), 7th (22), 2nd rounder in ‘23.

Even looking past the fact that every coach remains, including Lappy and Dillabaugh.

That’s something.

He picked one of the worst realistic options out there though. If he did pull it out of his ass that was a ballsy guess.
It was completely realistic though. We were all guessing Holtby would be the one but we still found a way to underestimate how dumb Fletcher is by not even considering Jones could be his choice of washed up goalies.

Your taking a shot at a guy who's be shit for 3 years at a percentage of a small amount of cap space over a guy who has one bad season on his record and would cost 500k less that you need for Hart and Sanheim. Cap space is a worth the chance on 1 bad year over 3 bad years.
Halak didn't sign for 1.5 million. It was 1.5 million plus another potential 1.5 million in incentives. I couldn't care less though because I didn't want either of them. Halak looks done at his age and coming off of the season he had and Jones just sucks.

Most backups will play around 30 games this year due to the schedule. WE ARE f***ED...
We are not f***ed because of this signing. Let's say Martin Jones costs us X amount of games because he sucks. Who is the best option that we realistically could have gotten and how many games does that cost us? Serious question. If Jones goes 10-20 in those 30 game, what does the next best option do? 15-15? 20-10? I am not saying this is a great move, but it isn't like they passed up on Patrick Roy to get him.

We are going to have to agree to disagree. Eklund was the only person talking about the Flyers signing Jones. Whether it was a guess or not it was a ballsy one.

People are being a little too negative about this honestly. It is absolutely fair to believe a change of environment can aid Jones’ bounce-back. Vigneault’s defensive overload system to cause blown coverages makes things easy on his goaltenders. I see no reason the Flyers goaltending this year can’t be vaguely better than historically awful!

Yeah, I don't get why people are being so doom and gloom about this signing. It's perfectly fine. Nothing great or bad, just fine.

I think they are tired of poor asset management where they see analogous moves across the league with lower prices paid/better assets received/less cost spent.
(honorarilly (?) excluding Seattle and Ken Holland)

5 games in the NHL is a huge swing if you win them all. If Hart bounces back and Jones goes 10-20 there's a good chance they still miss the playoffs.

After the goaltending was historically bad last season, Fletcher in his life-or-death campaign to prevent goals against just signed a backup/1B who has registered the 2nd worst, 7th worst, and 2nd worst all situations goals saved above expected over the last 3 seasons. He’s been arguably the worst goalie in the league. It’s a train wreck of a signing and yet another blinking neon sign of disorienting incompetence. It’s unexplainable from so many vantage points.
