Maybe this explains Mika's production.

30% of people with Covid-19 continue to have symptoms up to 9 months after infection, study finds
From CNN's Nadia Kounang
New research published Friday in the journal JAMA Network Open finds that 30% of people with Covid-19 continue to have symptoms up to nine months after initial infection.

Is there another case of a big player whose game just went away after COVID? I really don't know. Because there's a huge sample of basketball, soccer etc guys who got the thing. There's Marco Rossi and the pitcher for (I think) the Red Sox, but they had serious issues that I assume popped up on medical scans.

how often does Lafreniere have space and/or time with the puck? it's rare. It really is a system issue imo. The players are not afforded to use their creativity/skills. No one ever gets open or attempts to find soft spots. How many chances has Kakko had in the slot? the main goal is board play and possession on the perimeter. I do not get it

Is there a website to see high danger chances? Would Vally's service provide it?

It's the hot shit system everyone in the NHL plays now of bend but don't break in both zones. Unless it's an easy carry-in, dump it and cycle the puck down low in the O zone so no blue line turnovers. No easy freebees for the opposition. Even during our hot streak last year we were doing dumb shit like that killed us. Kevin Hayes torched us when we played the Flyers before the Covid break with 2 on 1's galore. It's not sustainable hockey unfortunately, and we were creamed in the playoffs (play in) trying to play it. Defensively, the goal is of course to try to get other teams to be overaggressive so we can turn it the other way like teams used to do to us.

The problem is that everyone plays the same damn system and it can lead to a boring ass defensive NZ back and forth game unless the D can make pinpoint tape to tape passes. It's an evolved version of the trap from the 90's, but nowadays it's just called a 'system' lol. Kakko seems to actually be taking very well to the system which is very impressive compared to where he was last year in the run n gun style.

Definitely a system thing. We play with a poor structure. Quinn is out of his league. Experiment is over with him.

Johnson has to be the one coming out. Or else everything we were told about Johnson "just being there for the locker room", "he's not going to play", and all that was just bullshit. A lie. Yet those of us who lamented his signing day after day were told we were worrying about nothing. When you sign the worst player in the league, it's a problem.
I beg to differ. Signing the worst player is NOT worse than signing AND playing the worst player for anything more than the absolute minimum.

Somewhat similar to paying me $30.00 an hour, when all i am really worth is about $15.00 ha ha.

Do you can say for sure his problems are covid related? Because his lungs seems fine to me, he is skating the way he always did here, his hand eye3 coordination and his IQ are what seems to me that have downgraded to Howden's level.
I repeat, his is the worst player in any sports , that I can remember, after having covid.
We should stop using this excuse for his space jam loss of ability.
Dude, you are brutal. Were you a fan of his last year?
Okay, so if he's uncoordinated, and his hockey sense/IQ has diminished then that.....would lead me to believe something is wrong with his "brain or eyesight" due to concussion(s).

And yeah, lets throw out the suggestion that its substance abuse (that someone posted) #frigginknucklehead.

You nailed it , on top off that they are scared to try because if it does not work they will ride the pine .

You know I hate Quinn as much as anyone but I feel like half of what I read on this board is that the Rangers are too east/west and pass too much and then half is that they're not creative enough.

the system is not conducive to east/west ( skill game ). So when it happens it looks bad.

but if players feel like they are being restrained, its not good. You have to do the opposite of what feels natural. This can lead to a tentative style or gameplay that looks hesitant.

If Laf was capable of strippin guys of the puck and deking around the team and scoring highlight reel goals he’d be doing it lol. Major cope. Quinn wouldn’t get mad at him for showing off his skill, if anything that would save his job lol people hate every coach we have. Quinn had Kakko stapled to the top 6 last year and on PP1 even before earning anything. He’s gave Laf tons of opportunity too. They just aren’t that good yet.

Why the hell did kreider see 1 second of ice after taking a lazy 5on 3 penalty.

Hold the god damn vets accountable quinn!

kreider must have nudie picks of quinn.

oh and our prized rookie sees 0 seconds in OT but that schmuck kreider with his punchable face and lazy ass play is still on the ice.

Ffs kreider didnt even miss a god damn shift after that penalty! What type of message is that sending to the team!
LOL.....hey but he is valuable in the room....and good with the kids in the off season...for 7 million a season he is an expensive babysitter though....but he also is good with them around the swimming pool areas ....so he has value...and come on...don't be harsh...he does show up for about 33 games a year .

The problem is the players can't recognize when they have the time and space to use East/West vs North/South. Teams like the Canes, Islanders and Bruins won't let you play East/West. Sometimes their are breakdowns that allow you to do it. When this team is struggling they using the style that is inappropriate vs the team they are facing. For example when players are struggling they are trying to do too much individually or force a seam pass that isn't there and sometimes they will just throw a grenade at the net from 40 feet out when they could have held onto the puck. Mika is a perfect example of a player who's wires are crossed.

I still think Panarin should play with Mika, this is a hail Mary at this point. I think Mika needs to see a sports psychologist honestly. The guy is not even an NHL player anymore.
Anytime a player is in a slump usually a physical game or two snaps them out of it which involves getting dirty ...not sure if Mika can play that style because of the concussion history . The management team have to wonder what the future does hold for him though . We are 2-3 years out from being a more well rounded club....how much will we get from Mika by then ? Personally...I would have all of Mika-Kreider-Panarin gone in the next 3 years ...maybe 4 for the latter fellow .

It's nice to see that he DOES have a shot.
It was nice to see him with a straight run square on to the net versus trying to snipe one in from the side all the time ...maybe put him on the point on the PP with Fox for a different look every now and then or in front of the net ...he is a big boy after all !

We just want a Kakko or Alf goal. Is that too much to ask for?
Would I be too convoluted in asking to not have to see "Alf" anymore? Pretty sure Laf or Laffy would do, but nooooo people have to reference cartoon characters or whatever. If I were Laf, I wouldn't be Laffing.
