If I was on the ice for that Simmonds garbage, I wouldn't have fought him. I would have cross checked him in the mouth and then not fought him when he tried to drop the gloves. Hartnell is a pest, but I wouldn't consider him to be a guy who plays dirty with the intent to injure. Neal and Simmonds are guys who try to hurt other players. Not even the vilified Sean Avery went out of his way to hurt people.

Neal is scum... Simmonds i dont believe has ever been suspended in his pro career including the AHL although he does have a temper at times.. Hartnell is a pest but at times can go overboard with his body, but at least he does not pull hair like the Penguins..:sarcasm:

They're pretty good for a 3rd pairing. But there's a reason they're a 3rd pairing.

Our 3rd pairing is more than adequate. Probably the best we've had since Sauer was healthy. I think Klein is just a little too scary looking for some people. Or something.

My concern about playing the Flyers is you can't depend on a 4th line to bail you out every night.

Having Klein on the 3rd pair is a tremendous luxury, lest we forget the days of Bickel, McCabe, ect....The dude a more than capable of handling 20 mins a night. I'm glad we have him.

This team will have flaws going into the playoffs. Defense should not be one of them; McDonagh - Girardi is one of the best pairings in the league, Staal - Stralman is a nice 2nd pair, and Klein - Diaz is a solid 3rd pairing. Diaz provides a little extra offensive punch that will be necessary in a series.

Face offs. Will our best players actually be our best players?

prospect Oscar Lindberg is very good on faceoffs but Rangers dont have room for him at this time. i wish he would be called up, they can use his faceoff skill.. isnt Miller good on faceoffs. id consider moving him to center for certain draws.. last night Rangers did lose a bunch of draws, same in the Yotes game. this is a problem for the Rangers.

McDonagh had another great game. Girardi too. Girardi's great play, I hope, does not get unnoticed by the fans because of McDonagh's recent offensive performance over the last several weeks. Girardi has been playing quality hockey for this team for a while now, and that pairing, together, really has done a fantastic job.

Lundqvist played a great game. Sucks to lose the shutout on an absolute snipe by Voracek, but more importantly, we got 2 points.

Outside of the 1st period, it was a solid game.

EDIT: Damn, that does kind of suck for Lundqvist. Could have been tied with Rask for #1 in the league in shutouts! Just two minutes away. Well, it is what it is.

Maybe if his teammates could win a faceoff???

They're pretty good for a 3rd pairing. But there's a reason they're a 3rd pairing.

They constantly get outpossessed and hemmed in their own end. The likes of Voracek and co. will eat them alive IMO. Match ups are crucial.

But it's okay IMO. Staal, McDonagh Stralman and G can handle 25 MPG+. Hopefully the 3rd pair doesn't do too much harm.

I have to give Hank most the credit for this one. He made some amazing saves in the first to keep us in it. We scored first and it was a different game. Some of the saves he made were unreal. Elite goaltender saves. Reminiscent of 2011/12 where he was the reason for the win. I give Hank **** when he has a bad game, so gotta give him credit when he has a great one.
Next up would be the 4th line and Mac & G

I am impressed with Diaz, even thinking he should keep that spot when Moore is healthy. Certainly makes Stralman expendable if he want more then 3 x 4.

His two best saves were against the Flyers' offensive black hole, Adam Hall. If those pucks were on someone else's sticks the result may have been different. Hey, thems the breaks.

McDonagh's 14 goals are the most by a NYR defenseman since Leetch had 21 in 2001.

He could have a few more if he didn't hit the post or shoot wide in good positions, though that may be a product of always aiming for the corner instead of abusing the goalie logo like Stralman does. Honestly if he hones his shot a bit more he could have 20 goal seasons.

That series is the only time in my life I cheered for the Flyers. God I hate ****tsburgh.

In regards to McDonagh, what is a good stat to show using advanced stats. Been reading up more and more with advanced stats, but still don't fully understand them all.

I've missed too many games lately. Damn, Hank looked vintage by looking at the highlights. He's in a groove. Hopefully he'll play in Calgary too and let Cambot play Edmonton.

Keep on rolling, baby. /Fred Derpst

I have yet to see any close-up video that shows McDonagh's shot in the net, lol. I am sure it did go in or else it would have been reviewed into oblivion, but I sure would love to see a slow-mo overhead shot or something.

yeah, i mentioned the same thing on my post game wrap....does anyone have proof that puck went in? while watching it on tv it sure looked like it hit the post and was out.

Thank you! That's the image I was looking for.

?? it still looks like it hits the post...anyone wanna freeze frame it with the puck inside the net?

ok nm, i see it hit the netting on the right side.

so did it hit the left post, go over to the right side, hit the net, and go out?

The reason it looks like that is because the league not only made the nets more shallow but they tightened the netting too... So picks bounce right out.

But yes you are correct

That series is the only time in my life I cheered for the Flyers. God I hate ****tsburgh.

i only cheer for the Flyers in the playoffs whenever they play Penguins Devils Islanders. i hate those 3 with a passion..
