I think the opposite.

Get the framework in place, and then it just depends on how the picks go. Either team can back out if the draft falls in what they feel is their favor.

If Ottawa is smart, it’s Konecny. Then they have to re-sign him but he is familiar with the area obviously. If it’s Chychrun for Konecny, the Flyers may take some crap on the surface, but they’ll be adding another really good piece to that blue line.

If the + is Laughton or Cates and the draft goes a certain way, sure

Honestly, not really. Most of these teams have a pick scoring system for trades and the trade would probably just hinge on if player x is there/not there.

Sens management (Poulin) has essentially said that they cant make a judgement on trading the pick without seeing who gets picked before 7.

I doubt they trade the pick but would put it near 100% that they dont trade it before draftday

To be fair the report says this could drag to near the draft so they may say conditional upon who is picked. That's a hell of a lot of uncertainty for Philly if that's the case though
