Cuylle was a factor but I’m not sure he’s much more than a better Brendan Lemieux which isn’t a bad thing at all

Lundkvist looked shaky but it’s only one game. I do think he is pretty overrated by this fanbase

Schneider was solid, always loved his game

Barron was as expected, looked nervous at times though

Pajuniemi was solid but I’m not sure he’s anything more than a star in Europe

I’ve already gave my thoughts on Othmann

Jones was steady, didn’t wow me much but he’s a smooth player.

Reunanen should’ve been better and more noticeable for his age and experience

Rempe was a factor as well, I like his game and his size of course

some agree, some disagree with this...

short take.

We lost by 3 goals
we spotted them 2 on an entire first period for which we did not show up.

we had an empty net that might not have otherwise been the case.

So broad brush stroke picture, that was overall a balanced game in an underwhelming, unfocused effort, some brighter moments by a few notwithstanding.

Tom
better be better.

And there's always next year, but the goalie for this game sucked ass.

So hard to make much of this game, but I'll try. Not just the camera work, but the team didn't really play a team game, lines aren't quite right and lacked chemistry. Everything is a bit disjointed. A very disorganized flow. It felt like a slower than usual AHL game with how safe and simple everyone was playing. But anyway...

Barron and Jones looked the most NHL ready. And Pujaniemi looked good and smart and translated better than I expected.

Pujaniemi and Barron were by far the most effective offensively. I think the lack of weapons upfront sterilized the D's offensive ability. So, while Jones and Schneider looked the best back there, and tried a bunch of times to jump into the play, there weren't that many legit chances for them to make an impact.

Rempe always noticeable. Not just because of his size, but he was able to get to the areas of the ice he needed to make an impact. Again this pace is at least 2-3 levels slower than an NHL game, but it was really encouraging. He must have drawn blood in the fight because the Flyers kept trying to get him back rest of the match.

Cuylle -- he still looks like Morgan Barron Jr. out there. Similar game but without the shot and offensive IQ is also a step below MB right now. That said, he is quite effective at time. Just want to see him become more consistently impactful. Def one of the more intriguing players out there. I don't think going back to juniors is a bad thing for him because what I'd like to see more from him is offensive confidence.

Othmann - not remotely close to ready. Undersized. Was a bit of a dead weight on his line. Needs some real time to develop his frame and game.

Henriksson found himself with the puck a lot. But with no options once he had it. Curious to see him with more offensively skilled players. But as people have stated, his skating speed must improve for him to be a successful NHL player. I just think a guy his size can't play at the highest levels with at best average speed. His IQ is clearly high because he still manages to end up with the puck a lot. But he's pretty much going to pass once he has it. And so it requires him playing with really talented players. Slow and definitely going to pass is going to be too predictable I fear.

Lundkvist played jittery. Had no chemistry with Robertson. Just seems like he needs time to adjust to the NA game. He's far too smart to not figure it out. Today, NL reminded me of Jones' first pro game last season and K'Andre's as well. One other thing to just mention with Nils. it's not just the size of the rink, but it's style of play and the fact that he was playing with a bunch of prospects who weren't playing within a system. Every time he looked up for an outlet pass the lanes and spots he looked to were not options. I think he tried to speed up his game and rushed a bunch and the puck started flipping on him. It's just going to take time for him to figure it out. The good news, if NL isn't ready yet, Jones looks like he can take shifts at the NHL. And Schneids doesn't seem fazed by this level or AHL.

Robertson, i think he needs AHL time. Likely the whole season. Like his size, like aspects of his game, but I think he will play a simpler less heady version of the position than any of the other top prospect d men.

Schneids -- I only noticed him in a good way. But didn't notice him a ton. I did see him join the rush once or twice and he looked fine doing it. Just seemed fairly comfortable and invisible in the way you want a D to be invisible.

I didn't watch it and I would take less than nothing from it. That's my analysis.

Yeah, like always with these type of games, lol.

I mean it’s fun to watch the kids, how they are moving and so forth. But we read a lot into how kids “performed” like it mattered how the players ranked in the three stars of the night column.

My brief impression on a few topics that stands out a bit.

First of all, I think we are underselling Cuyle a bit. Poor mans Barron, Lemieux type and so forth. The kid is physically really strong — and — has a very well rounded game. He is of course really young and what not, but he got a really well rounded game and definitely has potential to become a solid top 9 in the NHL.

Barron stepped up as the game progressed and played a much better center icemen game than I’ve seen from him in the past. He was smart, strong on the puck and made the small plays enabling him to get involved. I don’t like the classic ‘size at center’ guys in light of how the game is looking, but he played really well. Don’t mind him playing in the AHL some more, but he looked good.

Schneider impressed with his offensive game. He wasn’t really tested defensively, but his play offensively definitely stood out. The NHL game is awfully fast and you have no marginals. I am not sure if he is ready for the NHL defensively. Not because he couldn’t make many really good defensive plays, just because he might still be at a level where the positioning, consistency, and so forth needs some more maturing.

Lundkvist was definitely chasing it tonight, but no biggie from my POV. He also didn’t play much and seemed to be away for a long stretch in the 1st for repairs.

I love Jones. Think that he is NHL ready basically. But…I think that perhaps his type will have a harder time to find a position in this league. It’s not a matter if he can eat minutes and not hurt his team, but with someone like him dressed — do you get an edge?

Henriksson is so smart. It’s in games like this you miss all metrics, first guy back behind his own net, he was on the puck. Plays turn and he is first guy on the puck behind the net in the attacking zone.

But with both Henriksson and Lundkvist, in games like this there is no time with the puck. Much of the game of hockey is about creating time and space for each other. Since NHLers are better at that you basically get more time with the puck not less. They will progress when the game get more organized. Buch was the same. He was 100% a bust after his first Traverse then made the team out of Camp.

Any standouts that looked really good? Was at the Yankee game today watching them get blown out.
