Not if the player says he is ok. Which he obviously was not. It's 50-50 then. Do you take his word or go against his word. He left the first with 4 minutes left. Guy was obviously hurt. So yeah, I'd say it was on the coach.

Every player with a heart will say he is ok. They don't want to let their teammates down. You're not new to the game. Stop being facetious.

It's up to the coaching/medical staff to sit them out. Or at the very least split up two ailing superstars who are playing on the same line.

Gimme a break, dude. Who are we gonna play? Sprong? You think there's a snowball's chance in Hell Sully allows Sprong to learn on the job in the playoffs? Especially against the Flyers, six games in?

Spronger is as good as gone-er this summer me thinks.

It's not about the streak. Phil thinks he can play, and he can, so he's playing. Phil's shot is a split-second gamechanger from just about anywhere in the offensive zone, and he's one of the better passers on this team.

I agree about Sprong, though. Win the Cup or not, I think JR has a ton of work to do this off-season, and I doubt Sprong makes it through the summer in this organization.

It's just hard to agree with that when Couturier is out there playing, doing more possible injury to his leg. I just don't see how he can play when the medical staff will allow it. Sure we don't know either of their injuries, but I don't think (outside of a concussion) they can not allow a player to play.

Or am I missing something?

I like him with Geno more than Sid. The Sid-Jake combo is one that should never be broken up until they go weeks without performing or producing well--which I highly doubt ever happens. Sprong has all the makings of Geno's new James Neal, minus all the stupidity and dirty play.

Why even draft Sprong then? If they trade him i lost some respect for Sully. Its ok to have a guy whos a pure sniper..not everyone is gonna play like Rust and Hagelin. Sheary is still on the damn team..and while he hustles..he makes a lot of mistakes.

And i couldnt care less about sprong personally...i want whats best for the team. His name could be Nathaniel Wong for all I care. I want someone who isnt allergic to shooting the puck.

They did that to themselves but i think I’ll peace out from the mess the pgt will become.

As far as Letang. His minutes are up again and I think he needs to be kept to 22-24 consistently.

Letang should only play 19-21 minutes

Only against third and fourth lines..
Not on the ice for crucial game moments

Not to be Sid and Geno D paring.. I will go with Shultz and Määttä.. occasionally Dumoulin and Shultz like Sully has done before.. really have Letang not start games..Penguins has look more better than that.. won games .. Sidney wasn’t on the ice hemmed up in his zone to much nor on the ice for goals from opponents..

It happens when Sidney is with Letang..

It is totally possible that Phil has an injury that he isn't going to injure further by continuing to play. I think it is really unfair to accuse him of being selfish when none of us have any information on the injury.

Let's be real, if Phil sat whoever replaces him isn't going to be an upgrade, hurt or not.

I'm genuinely curious if Sprong is getting the same treatment from Sully that Despres got from Bylsma. The coach just doesn't like him, so he won't play him--particularly in a position to succeed.

we just lost two games in our barn to the arguably the worst play off team, maybe Ducks
and we lost without really being dominated, we have major issues...the most important is geno and kessel, I don't see how we can paly against any good team if that line just relies on an occasional counterattack...and geno may not play next game for all we can telll

We are better without Letang. We are paying 7.25m for a guy that gives away more games than he wins. I have no idea how a d-man with his skating can be this bad.

Pens were having their little troubles last year but they are much better with him.. way hungrier and better D core without him..
Rutherford just happens to remove him and bring a decent great return with young 4 defenders .. get Mm the great backup goalie he needs.. I was thinking maybe .. Robin Lehnner..

People need to realize the Flyers aren’t that bad of a team. You miss 5 powerplays you’re chancing the game ending on an ugly goal.

Certain posters base their preferences on players personalities and looks. As a fan of the sport, I find it really weird.

It is weird .. sometimes it’s not about who’s name is on the back of jersey .. it’s the organization.. Especially when it comes to Kris Letang..

The PPG w/tang opposed to w/o tang before his big time health issues were off the charts. The team scored basically double when he played than without him.

There have been a few stinkers...like game 5 against the sharks and that one game against Ottawa....but those were better teams and the stakes were higher....it’s more understandable than losing this one....and yes, the Flyers are a pretty bad playoff-type team....they are not that “hard to play against”

But they had a rare off game in the finishing department so now everybody is saying that the defending back to back cup winners have no killer instinct.

flyers are as bad of a team as there is one in these playoffs, they were playing with their N0.1 center on leg...please...spare me, with normal puck luck we win, without abysmal 4 on 3 we win, without getting scored on our PP with their guy pretty much just throwing puck on the net and our hero just watching him get to the net get the rebound poke the puck without even attempting to do anything about it..
