Twar hasn't been signed to anything fwiw, according to Meltzer. So far only an extended try-out.

That must be it, since they do have the contract space as LOD said.

If they just sign Kase, this could be the top 13 Phantoms forwards to start next season.

Varone-Vorobyev-Aube-Kubel
Carey-Rubtsov-Kase
Bunnaman-Knight-Conner/Laberge
Twarysnki-Fazleev-Bardreau

And that's assuming Vecchione is on the Flyers, Salinitri isn't signed, Martel is let go, and Marody, Allison, and Lazcynski remain in college.

I'm still not sure what happens with Marody. Total mystery to me, though he doesn't seem like someone they'd sign going into next year. I hope Allison and Laczynski turn pro after this year, provided they have good years. It'll be both of their age 21 seasons.

Also wonder if Vorobyev has a chance to push for the Flyers roster next season.

I hope they don't let Martel go so quickly either, but yes, add the college kids and it gets even tighter. But then wasting the juiciest roles on career AHL veterans makes even less sense.

I could see Allison and Lazcynski being signed this spring.

Is this their 2nd or 3rd year?

They're both heading into their sophomore seasons. They're both older for their class though. Allison will be 20 in October & Laczynski is already 20. Allison is a late birthday for his draft class while Laczynski was a re-entry after being passed up in 2015.

So guys typically their age would be heading into their junior seasons.

Kind of disappointed they just let Kosorenkov just leave. If you liked him enough to bring him to camp, why not sign him?

Ok. Yea. I think we can get them both in the AHL next year. Allison is clearly already physically ready.

Carchidi tweeted that Hexy said the toughest cut was Vorobyov. Also said it may be back this year.

I think that kid opened eyes. Would've liked to watch myself.

I'd project Vorobyev over Rubtsov right now I think, long-term. That speaks more to Vorobyev. Phantoms are going to be lit.

Rubtsov has more upside than Vorobyev.

But Vorobyev is closer to being NHL read, not
just age, but skill set and hockey IQ.

No one thinks Kosorenkov is in the same universe as Rubtsov.

I think with Kosorenkov, they know his offensive ceiling, like Straka, they probably were checking whether he had the commitment to learn to play a two way game. Difference is a few years ago they were so thin they could carry Straka and hope to convince him to mature into a NHL prospect, now, their question is he good enough to take time away from a better prospect in the AHL in 2018-19?

Yeh, even if Vorobyov and Vecchione are in the NHL they could still basically field a Fwd group of prospects next season if they wanted:

Bunnaman - Rubtsov - Aube-Kubel
Laberge - Laczynski - Kaše
Salinitri - Marody - Allison
Twarynski - Fazleev - Bardreau

And they have: Varone, Carey, Knight & Conner signed too.

Now they can pick up Koro in next year's draft if they want to. As a twice passed over he probably won't go until very late.

We could see a few trades of quantity for quality start to happen. Or depth prospects flipped for future picks to keep the pipeline full like the Cousins/Madsen type deal.

The other thing to think about is next years draft. If the Flyers signed Kosorenkov, his 3 year deal starts next season. That means he would still have one year left on his contract when the contracts start for anyone the Flyers draft out of Canadian juniors in 2018's draft.

Unlesss you think Kosorenkov had top 6 potential, it was probably best to pass on signing him with the way the Flyers have been drafting. I doubt he would have been a guy who would have willingly played a long career in the AHL so some contracts are needed for Lehigh Valley as well.

Unsurprisingly, Brennan being in that one practice session with the regulars didn't count for anything.

I disagree about too many exhibition games, the first 2-3 are all rookies and AHL guys, the NHL guys really only play 4-5 games, and you need that to get your "game" legs back (practice just isn't the same) and to get your timing down - both teams in the Boston game looked a tad bit "off".

It'll probably take Patrick a few months to get to full speed, he had the operation before the draft, and he's 19 years old, so he should heal quickly, the biggest issue is probably rebuilding core strength. He starts from a different baseline, 75% playing in juniors so he's stronger and faster but against higher competition. For Giroux and Ghost, their baseline was 100% against NHL players so they had to adjust to not being able to what they were used to doing.

Patrick will have the advantage of limited expectations beginning the season, so as he approaches 100% after the New Year, he will also be acclimated to the NHL, so I can see a big jump the second half of the season.
