This is a better opening night:

Provy-Hagg
Morin-Ghost
Manning-Gudas
Mr. Softie

I watched the video of those battle drills on Monday. As usual, AMac looked lost trying to be physical and defend one-on-one. Manning was strong on his man, and he and Gudas looked good in their 2v2. Yes, I know it's just one practice and one drill, but for the life of me I just don't see any advantage to Mac over Mandog. I've resolved myself to the fact my guy is the #7, but it's frustrating.

End of rant.....

That's not my perferred lineup but what I think it's going to be. My perferred lineup wouldn't have either MacDonald or Manning in it. But given the choice if it's just down to those two I'd agree only because Manning will at least be used more like someone who's limited. I don't think that happens though. I think MacDonald's back on the top pair again & Manning's the #7.

No, I agree with you, LOD. I was hoping he'd have a legitimate shot to battle AMac for a top 6 position, but Hak obviously has other ideas.

That's probably what's going to happen and it's not the end of the world. MacDonald has his flaws but he wasn't the reason we didn't make the playoffs last season. Otherwise Provorov wouldn't have had such a great year.

I prefer focusing on the positive and that's some new blood on D in Hagg and Morin. They should provide more depth and quality.

The fact that MacDonald hasn't played in any of the games yet pretty much assures he's not only got a spot on the roster but also a spot in the lineup. If he was on the bubble he'd be playing like the other veteran players have been (Read, Weise, Lehtera, Raffl, Manning, etc.).

I'd hold off thinking the final roster is written in stone.

One thing about Hextall is he's very patient and plays it close to the vest, he'll wait until a couple days before deadline and start seriously taking calls, and will probably try to move a couple veterans.

Hakstol proved last year, after MacDonald was directly responsible for 15 of 30 goals scored against in a long stretch, that he does not give a **** how badly he plays..he is going to be in the lineup.

Not only in the lineup, but as a top 2 or 4 D man in the lineup.:help:

Joe Haggerty started a Twitter war with Flyers fans. Said Gudas isn't a Top 4 Dman in the league. Dismissed it too. Said because he doesn't average 20 MINs TOI, doesn't make him one.

I fully believe we have the most haters out of any tean tbh, anytime anything is ever said about the flyers or their players, sooo many people come out of hiding just to bash them

I'm shocked that they didn't offer Kosorenkov an ELC given his strong performances. Low probability of him becoming an NHL regular but still more talent and upside than most late round draft picks and certaintly worth a gamble.

I don't get this Kosorenkov thing at all.

He was clearly better than several of the prospects in camp.

With the amount of incoming talent that we drafted I can get saving a contract spot if Kosorenkov didn't blow them away. It's likely they don't think of him as anything more than a bottom 6er and we have a huge surplus of those players. I totally understand saving the contract spot if that was their thinking even though he did impress when I saw him.
